Having witnessed last night's Brum NEC tour event, I have to say how impressed I was with Kate Thornton. Despite being heavily pregnant, she commanded proceedings on her own without help, and added a welcome intelligence and wit. She even managed to open the event well with help of the three dancing judges. Food for thought for future series?

Kate Thornton would be good at presenting Strictly-I think she knos about dancing too. Doubt she's wear any of Tess's bacofoil specials though.

Saw Kate with the tour at the O2 last week and thought she was absolutely brilliant. I've always thought Tess is a bit wooden, and would love Kate to take over. Liked the way she could dance a bit too!

Neither did I, but on the tour she is fantastic. I'd vote for her over Tess anyday

I also didn't like her on BB, but I agree with Puffle, she's been aces on the tour.

I think she seems to understand that it's not 'her' show, so is really understated in the host role. She keeps things moving without being intrusive. She's relaxed and comfortable, and I was very impressed with her.

I was very impressed with Kate, she's got a lot more tact & wit than Tess. I wouldn't be opposed to them replacing Tess with Kate.

I have also been very impressed with Kate during the tour.

Kate has been good on the tour but I find her awful in a tv studio!!

Just because she has managed to do a really excellent job hosting the live tour I am still not convinced she would be good in a studio - sorry just my opinion

She was awful on X-Factor (wasnt she sacked???) and was awful on Baby Ballroom

Dont get me wrong she has been brilliant on the live tour but I am not convinced she will do a good job hosting the tv show

Have to say I had the chance to speak with Kate Thornton on Saturday night and I thought she was absolutely FAB.

she was really great in her role - I didn't like her on X-Factor - but I thought she did really well on the tour - AND she was 6 months pregnant and she told me she was really exhausted but she still did a brilliant job.

she looked absolutely radiant - really beautiful - and she was so lovely.

I wouldn't have any objections at all for her to do SCD.

I lost all respect for Tess when she asked Matt and Flavia in the final - at the point where they'd just been voted into second place - if they were going to keep seeing each other afterwards. Whether they were an item or whether they weren't - that was wholly inappropriate - and for me, from that moment on, she has been reduced to unprofessional at best.

so yes.........Kate to replace her.

Agreed that was a truly uncomfortable moment and tactless in the extreme. So cringeworthy for Matt, Flavia and poor Vincent who was standing close by...awful! It was completely unnecessary for her to make such an inappropriate comment! I am sure there were other questions she could have asked them....or just kept her mouth shut!

OK I'm probably the only one but I like Tess. Have to agree about the comment to Matt and Flavia but hey we all make mistakes.

I'm not too sure either about Kate hosting SCD either. Granted she did a good job on the tour.
I'd prefer someone like Denise van Outen (not sure of the spelling) as she has performed on stage dancing etc which to me would give her inside knowledge. Just an idea.

Kate would be good as she has done ballroom dancing previously. It's a definate no no to Denise, we've already got one arlene, we don't need another!!

I didn't watch BB so can't comment but I thought Kate was ok in Xfactor.

Saw the SCD Tour in Glasgow and I was impressed with her and think she would be good.

hi Pips! completely agree with you - she really WAS up herself! I used to like her years ago but now she's really tarty in a not so good way - nooooooooooooo.........Kate is far more lovely!

I think Tess is alright presenting SCD even though she has not got much humour. If Kate Thornton did a good job on the tour she will prbably will get asked to do it next year as well. I don't really like DVO so hopefully BBC won't ask her to do Tess's job if she leaves.

I know! And she's completely unapologetic for all that going by her interview in the Daily Mail yesterday...

I don't actually mind Tess but can't she imagine if she were in Vincent's shoes while wierd little comments like that were being made in front of the nation.....?

I think someone has to have a word with her...
