The song was dire. Absolutely ear-splittingly awful.

So no :P.

Thats not much of an achievement considering her total sales for that period was only just over the 600,000 mark, just before Christmas (9/12/07). While it did go platinum, it wasn't until the end of January this happened.

Anyway I don't think I need to vote for Leona Loser, seems that the deaf asylum have it all under control.

Just 600,000? I think you'll find that 600,000 does equal platinum status , and having sold 600,000 it was already the highest selling single of the year. 600,000 isn't ordinary by any stretch of the imagination.

Just 600,000 , lol

She may be Leona "Loser" now but we'll see tomorrow night who the losers are and who the winners are

In my opinion, the single only did so well because of the X Factor. Based on that, I wouldn't vote for her for Best Single because although the figures might say so, it wasn't. The publicity boosted the sales for what was a good single, but not the Best.

Again, all in my opinion.

Explain this to me then; why has "Bleeding Love" gone number 1 in 19 countries worldwide? Only the UK and Ireland have had the X-Factor shown, so that's 17 countries where she has been a nobody, her song has got radio play and huge support though. She's done no promo in the majority of these countries too, just a small amount of European appearances.

Exactly.

Good luck to Leona, her song is easily the best out of the lot.

Futuring you should see them now , they still haven't gotten over the REcord of The year defeat , calling it a fix even though it ended like 2 months ago!

lol, yes, they're very "dedicated"... I have nothing against Take That, but their fans are funny, to say the least.

So 600,000 is great sales to you, geeze you must be easily pleased. That's just over a 10th of the population of Scotland, so what happened to the rest of the UK. I guess the days of multi platinum sales from one song are no more. Artists are setting their sights so low, its shows how worthless the Brit Awards have become. Mind you, it went down hill when they barred Jarvis Cocker from attending, he was the best thing to happen to it.

I was listening to it earlier. im inclined to agree, i think leona is a great singer but Bleeding love is repetitive and rather bland. certainly no classic.

Without wishing to be rude, 600,000 sales in such a short time period is great to anyone who has a clue what they are talking about. She can't magically start to compete in an era where singles sales were higher, she can only compete in the here and now and that's what she should be compared against.

Also, her album took less than 3 months to become the second biggest seller of 2007 and went 6 times platinum.

no doubt Leona will come away from the Brits with an award or two because she has done well

but some of her fans must not have much faith in her when they are reminding/begging people to vote for her

not just on this thread and forum either

I have faith in her, I don't have faith in the British Public.

Definitely. They're even talking about going on Youtube and saying "Vote for Leona to win on ______" and then giving Take That's number. Is there any need for underhand tactics?

Because I've seen injustices (what I've believed to be) happen in the past when it's down to the public. One example being Janice Dickinson not winning I'm A Celebrity. I was actually shocked she won X-Factor but extremely pleased.

7 weeks I think it took to reach platinum level, yea I guess that is pretty good going. Ach its all farting in the wind anyway, people will listen to what they want anyway; regardless of what other people think about the artists.

I pray that one of the other, better, solo female artists wins that category. How can they put Leona up against the likes of Bat for Lashes and PJ Harvey?
