K850i Issues...

Can't believe it! After reading about it on some reviews I'd hoped that a few months after release the errors would have been ironed out.. not so - my lens shutter is not opening when the camera is in use. I've tried switching off the handset and starting it up again - no joy. I've had the phone four days!!

Does a master reset wipe off anything that is not on the sim card or memory card? Should I take the memory card out just in case ...

mmmhhh...it might be a software issue...can you check what version youi have?
I didn't experience the shutter problems but freezing, auto switch offs and the dreaded operation failed.
Since upgrading tp the lates software .38 it's been ok (touch wood!!)
Took it to the Vodafone shop and they sent it for repair and it came back with the updated software. And the peeps in the shop seemed aware of the problem when I started going on about the problems being down to software bugs.

Good luck

I think the shutter issue is a hardware problem. Someone posted on an earlier thread that there is a hardware revision that cures this, but would need the phone sending away or exchanging.

I'm thinking I'd be better off just returning it and getting an exchange for a different model - I'm unsure which is the best of the 5mg camera phones though. The Viewty doesn't seem to be compatible with Vista, doesn't have a lot of personalising options, and appears to be scratched easily.. I'm unfamiliar with Nokia's to know which is the best choice but the N95 would seem to be a large handset?

I use my LG Viewty with Vista. Just don't use the software that comes with the box, i either put my memory card in my PC or blue tooth files to it.

Secondly, it comes with a screen protector. After having mine for 2 months now it still has no scratches.

Reason I am defending it is, if you get a hold of the phone you will see it is the best 5mp camera out of the bunch. The video recording on it being it's coup de grace to the others.

The SE K850i would be great if it wasn't for it's issues.

The G600 or G800 fall way short of the mark for me as phones, and the cameras on them are not very good.

The N95 is a good camera, but if you do go for that go with the 8GB Model.

Does the Viewty come with a 'regular' sized memory card? I have a card reader on this laptop but it is for ones about 2cm in width, such as a digital camera one, not mini sd cards such as the one in the K850i

Shame, big shame about the lack of Wi-Fi!

Oh dear, I've just upgraded to this phone! That'll teach me to pick a phone without reading the reviews first! Ah well, at least my old phone still works

How do you know that the phone wasn't one of the birst batch and hasn't been sat on a shelf for months?

I don't. Do you? In fact it could even be a previously returned one.
