Reverend & The Makers. What a bunch of arrogant tw*ts
I seem to remember them mouting off about another artist previously and now theyre having a go an Leona because she's apparently "talentless".
Now im by no means a big Leona fan, but Id hardly describe someone who won a music talent programme, had the biggest selling single of 2007, the fastest selling debut album ever in both the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, became the first winner of a major television talent show in either the UK or U.S. to be given a major global launch with the release of their debut album and currently being hailed as the new whitney houston "talentless". Get your heads out of your owns arses and shut up is what i say. |

Hear hear!
They're nobodies and they know slamming someone who is in the media a lot at the moment will get them publicity. It's worked a treat too. |

Another nobody who doesn't know any of the facts and instead decides to slam someone from a talent show purely because they were on it since it's one of the "hip" things to do at the moment.

Funny how all of you have actually completely missed the point.
You're slamming this guy and his band as a group of 'nobodies' - which is exactly his point! Leona has gotten massive amounts of press exposure and endless amounts of marketing from her record company. It is IMPOSSIBLE to be a nobody when you've won the X-Factor. Whilst Reverend and The Makers, while I'm not a fan, make and write their own music, play their own instruments, and have to completely hype themselves. They try and let their music do the talking, whilst someone like Leona lets the industry do her talking for her. She has a great singing talent; that I will not deny. But so do countless others, and there is little that makes her voice distuinguishable from the rest. Having said that, there's little that makes Reverend and The Makers music any more distuinguishable from other indie bands either, so it works both ways. |

So either they're trying to raise their profile by slagging off another singer (not exactly original) or they really are arrogant idiots. Either way, I like them even less now than I did before, and I'm not even a Leona fan!

Personally, I think Reverand and the Makers are absolute gash, but as you said, they do write their own songs and play their own instruments, something which they have to be credited for. It was stupid of the lead guy to say Leona is 'devoid of talent' - clearly she does have some talent in the vocal department, but not in terms of songwriting and playing an instrument. Which is probably the same for every other reality tv contestant. I would say Leona is more lazy/lucky, rather than talentless. |

LOL all I can do is laugh. They thought it'd be easy to take a potshot at a reality star. They're too dumb to see how successful she is and nobody will buy this.
By the way...who the hell are they? |

Fair enough people can hate her music, but it is obscene to say she is "talentless". |

Perhaps, but I thought the reason why leonas debut album took so long to release after her x factor success was because she insisted on writing the songs, or at least the vast majority herself so she would be taken seriously as an artist?

I am most definitely more into the style of music that R&TM make as opposed to Leona, but even I would rather listen to Leona than the massive pile of bull that R&TM seem to churn out.
I absolutely despise them. Fair enough, she doesn't right her own songs or play her own instruments (but she can play something can't she?) but to say she is devoid of talent shows what a jumped up little tosspot Jon McClure really is. The girl can obviously sing, whereas R&TM just regurgitate the same crap that we've heard a million times before. He really needs to come out with something decent himself before criticising others. People in glass houses and all that. Please.Disappear.Quickly.You.Talentless.*Beep* |

I wouldn't say the vast majority, but she certainly wrote on the album and wrote an entire demo album herself pre-XFactor. She also plays guitar and piano.

I wonder why that never got snapped up
Every track is miles better than anything that Kate Nash has ever done. I guess she should have dumbed it down a bit to appeal to the lower life forms. |

They certainly aren't completely unknown. They've had a few songs which have got some coverage on mainstream radio, I think.
Either way, he's either a total idiot or he's just looking for publicity. Interesting that as one of the top stars in the UK at the moment, Leona doesn't feel the need to slate others. |

How many songs on the album (Spirit) did she write herself, Ethereal? |

He's right about Lily Allen and Muse crying on about file sharing though.
Get used to it pop stars. If you don't like it, get a different job.

McClure has always been a tw*t, i think most people already know by now that it's best to ignore all the crap he says.
whatever his or anyone else's opinion on filesharing, having a music industry where all music is free would be ludicrous, for all sorts of reasons. |
