Cancelling a Boxclever TV rental
Does anybody know the T&Cs for TV rental with boxclever, specifically cancelling?
I've rented for so long, I've mislaid any documentation. Just rang them up to cancel, as I'm getting a new plasma delivered next week, and was told because my payment date is 12th of the month, I've already gone past this months and so my last rental days will be 30 days after the next payment date... The upshot of it all is that they steadfastly refuse to take the old TV away until 12th April at the earliest, this seems ridiculous. Now I'm stuck with a rather large 32" CRT + cabinet in the way

Well I would expect you would have to give a months notice in writing, but if you give the notice, and pay until when they say - I see no reason why they wouldn't collect it now, to get it out of your way.

Do they have their T&Cs on their website ? Might be worth checking.
I'd have thought that if you're paying for 30 days rental at a time, they wouldn't have a problem collecting early on the grounds you've paid until 12th April. You might struggle to get a refund though..... |

They'll probably ask you if you'd like to buy it.

You might struggle to get a refund though..... He was actually very friendly until I said I wanted to cancel my rental, then became very rude. And even though I said I was cancelling because I'd bought a large plasma, he still tried to get me to pay reduced rentals rather than cancel. Idiot. Must be desperate not to lose customers, who I suspect are dropping like flies considering the current cost of rental v buying. When I started renting, it was £30 per month for a £1500 telly, which works out fine as it's 4 years before you've paid the equivalent. Now, the 37" Plasma I've just bought is £670, and to rent it is £69 per month. Who in their right mind would do that, you could have paid for the telly after 10 months rental. |

The old argument was that you'd have peace of mind if it ever went wrong, but at the prices you're quoting it wouldn't matter - within a year you've got the guarantee, after that you're already saving money.
No wonder they're so desperate to retain customers. |

I'd suggest paying the 30 days and giving them 7 days to collect or advise them it'll go outside.
A bit harsh but worth a try. |
