3 Experience

Well, just coming to the end of my first 18 month contract with 3.

I phoned them up today as I am in my last month to talk about upgrades. First of all. The person I was speaking to was insisting that I was paying £35 a month at the moment for DT1400. Even though I had a bill infront of me that shows I am paying £30 a month (Think I bought it last year before the price went up and they took the 30Mb of internet off). I told him that I was paying £30 a month but he was having none of it

I have my heart set on a W910i. He kept going on about how expensive this phone is etc. He offered me a deal with the same contact but for £29 a month, a total saving to him of £6 a month but to me £1 a month!!

So I went on to ask about the £20 texter plan they have on their website he was familiar with it and said that it would cost me £65 for the phone on that priceplan for 18 months! It is only £49.99 for new customers! He wouldnt budge on the price.

So all in all I asked for my account to be cancelled and my PAC code. Sure enough got a text with my PAC in a few minutes later so now I am looking for another network with a free W910i. I like the look of the special offer that Vodafone has on at the moment. £25 for unlimited texts and so many minutes (Texts interest me the most). Has anyone else seen any good offers?

I am hoping Three will ring me back sometime in the next month because througout the 18 months I have been more than happy with the service.

With Orange you can get 600 Xnet Anytime Minutes and Unlimited Texts for £25 per month and a W910i Black or Red.

Thanks! Never spotted that one! Im really torn now though. I could go back to three and get the £20 texter and add the £5 internet onto it too. The Voda and Orange deals seem very good but im a bit weary of the phones branding! Ive heard they are branded to buggary?

A quick flash of the firmware will ail all that bugs them

I've read on here the ones from the Carphone Warehouse aren't. But that depends on them offering you the deal and phone you want.

Thats correct.

CPW and P4U offer "generic" handsets. But they offer different tarrif deals.

Leaving aside the price 3 still drops calls big time where I live.

It's a good prospect at first sight but you have to be prepared to redial and reconnect lots of times to keep in touch. The price is attractive but it should tell you about the quality of service.

Pay a little, expect poor service and poor quality of call reliabillty. That is 3 sadly in terms of my experience in my area.

lol just because you get that it dose not mean its every where i have never had a drop call in the last 2 years at the start yes that was annoying but not now i do go to countrysides big cites. i don't think you get drop calls for years you have said bad things about 3 every day.

Completely the opposite for me.

3 is (now) the most reliable network I've used in years.

Expect typical, 'normal' mobile service, gain excellent 3G coverage and call reliability. That is 3 happily in terms of my experience in my area - and several other places all over the UK.

In my area 3 is the best service I've had and I have been on O2 and Virgin in the last 3 years.

Generous inclusive calls/texts, cheap roaming, cheap Data/web.

I'm very happy with 3

I am pretty neutral about 3 now as I can put up with the service levels presently. Still have to redial quite a lot but luckily have had no need to use their customer service which is well known as worse than useless.

Independent customer reviews of 3 still appear to be pretty negative as the link below proves.

Anyone got any pics of the branding on a Vodafone or Orange W910i? Just want a peak before I go ahead and get them.

What does everyone think of the Branding? Does it lock out any functions in the phone such as TrackID?

Thanks

Has nobody got this phone on Vodafone?

they will - they just won't know you're asking about it in a Three thread...

Certainly doesn't sound like a typical experience of '3' retentions. Might be worth going into a 3Store to try and convince them to give you a decent deal or phone and likely get a different agent?

When I renewed my contract they gave me double the minutes and texts, a better phone and a shorter contract compared to their current deal for new customers at my monthly budget.

Was that a pig?

Your campaign against Three is relentless. Every opportunity you get ....

I used to be very critical of Three, I eat my words now.
