Some good singles, good live band, average album.

Not the best band ever by a long stretch.

I wouldn't say they are the best, not by a long shot. But i personally do like them, They seem a bit tounge-in-cheek with their style of Indie/Pop, not taking themselves too seriously - seeing themselves as some sort of gods - like others i wont mention for fear of being jumped uopn lol

They're shit.

Everytime they're on TV I have to mute it. And I don't buy their weirdo act, I get the feeling they are boring, ordinary people behind the big hairstyles and superhero costumes.

I guess this proves the saying "Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one". Personally I find them boring, their songs annoyingly sickening in their attempt at humour. So no, in my own opinion they are not the best band ever.

They're pretty good, yeah ..

But wouldn't label them as "one of the best bands ever"

I think the two songs they've released sound too alike really. Definitely not one of the best bands ever IMO.

Even if they were good, even very good, I do wish people wouldnt scream that they are 'one of the best ever!'.

No offence, but statements like that always tell me that the person has little knowledge of music history.

Love them, but get them into perspective...

God I hate them, along with Scouting for Girls, The Wombats and the Pigeon Detectives.

I blame the Kaiser Chiefs, they seem to have started a fad for 'wacky' bands.

spot on dude, whoever said "they have personality" - they have personality that appeals to school kids, most bands have personality if you check em out without the "ooh we're crazy, we're kooky"

god i hate them so much

Oh Christ - I've just about heard it all now.

The Hoosiers are just a pile of poo. The lead singer seems to have hiccups when he sings and I wouldn't rate any of their songs, even if the radio (or Channel 9 as I call it) does, because to me they are just yet another plain old boring British Indie Band.

Wombats and Pidgeon Detectives = Ace

Hoosiers - bland pop for 10 year old girls who seem to think they're really rock by listening to it.

One of the scariest things I have ever heard was when the Boss of Radio One announced that he thought The Pigeon Detectives were the best band in the world

I lump them in with The Hoosiers and The Wombats- lowest common denominator generic, bland pop music without an original idea in it's body.

However did they all get to be so big baffles me.

They're better than most of the pop acts we have in the US at the moment, wouldn't say they're in my top ten though.

IndieLove said it right - Some good singles, good live band, average album.
Also they've only released about 12 tracks to date !!

Basically, every so often, the industry will promote a sort-of "serious" band - and do it to death.

Thus you have bands kicking around for ages who are absolutely fantastic who never get a look in because sub-par bands with a lot of help behind them get promoted a lot.

And I hate it.

Yeah I think they are very funny group of guys.

I like that they don't take themselves seriously, they just have fun.

But that's just it. It's watered down nonsense, a sort of "back door" attempt to get "serious" music into the mainstream.

What's more, it's sad when you see a band as awesome as the Kaiser Chiefs go down that route. They are an immensely talented band, as anyone who heard their early demos and EPs will tell you, but as soon as the corporate machine started propelling them onwards, things just took a downhill-dive.

Over-exposure, songs that aren't really challenging in anyway, it's irritating.

Most of these bands, like The Hoosiers, Scouting For Girls, et al, who can tell me that you'd heard of them 12 months ago? I certainly can't. But I can tell you a lot of other "under the radar" bands who make more challenging music who would LOVE the help these other bands are getting.
