What a pity I didn't have questions like that to answer when I did my music GCSE - I may have actually enjoyed the subject!

To the author of the thread - what are your reasons for why you think it is "one of the worst songs ever written?" I'm intrigued.

Personally I like the song but I know a lot of people who don't. I'm actually surprised I like it myself because normally I find similar acoustic, slow songs painfully boring and have to turn the radio off when driving in case I fall asleep at the wheel.

I was listening to "pavements" the other day and thought, this song has a similar sort of vibe to dido's "white flag." Now, there was a song I couldn't stand because it was so dreary and would always be played on the radio on a nice, sunny day - just to match the mood of course! Then again I know people who love that dido song and hate "chasing pavements."

There's something about adele's voice that I like and I find the song quite catchy. I admit that I prefer "hometown glory" but nevertheless I wouldn't say it was one of the worst songs ever written. My category of worst songs ever written includes things like "orville's song," "ossie's on the road to wembley," and pretty much everything 50 cent has recorded.

It's not one of the worse (I think that most of the drivvle from Xfactor has far more vileness about it) but I think it's an annoying song.

When she says 'Should I give up...' I like to say 'Yes' Original, I know.

Main reasons for not liking the song are the aweful lyrics, bland sound and the whole thing is deeply unoriginal.

Drab, dreary, depressing.

There is nothing to differentiate her sound from the million and one other singers of the same genre.

Go and listen to Basshunter or some of these indie bands like Kaiser chiefs and Arctic Monkeys then you would know what drab dreary and depressing was.
Adele has a lovely voice and Chasing Pavements should have made number one.

I like it and her too !

The only thing is that Radio 1 are playing it to death ! Or seem to be !

Compared to some of the boring repetitive rubbish about at the minute....Basshunter for example...it's no surprise it gets so much airplay.

I keep hearing it in my head as "chasing payments"... a song for credit controllers everywhere.

It's rubbish. I swear these singers all sound the same. I'm bored of it. Calling a song 'chasing pavements' just sounds like she's trying to be edgy and cool, but it isn't working with me

I know exactly what you mean. Everytime they get labelled the 'new original thing' but they all sound the same. Adele, Kate Nash, Lily Allen, Duffy, Amy Mcdonald... Im sure theres more.

I dont like the song either, its really annoying, i have no idea why shes singing about a path and as for the video

Ah well, guess we all have different tastes

Deeply unoriginal compared to what?

How many deeply original songs are occupying the top 40 at the moment that you like?

As I explained earlier, I can't understand why I like the song. I've been thinking about it and I can understand why some people don't think it sounds any different from the plethora of female artists out at the moment or certainly in the last few years.

Put it this way, I don't think it sounds out of place alongside KT Tunstall's "other side of the world" or Dido's "white flag" - neither of which I was fond of, which is why I'm flummoxed that I quite like it.

To me it's a totally forgettable song and from the evidence so far Adele is very over-rated. But the worst song ever written? I don't think so, but then again some of the worst songs ever written are memorable at least...

Cant stand her to be honest. I think shes VERY overrated and "Pavements" is a very boring song.

Plus I dont like the way she wore an outfit on the Lily Allen show and then wore the exact same thing on The Brit Awards.

You're in the public eye now luv FFS....Sort it out!!

I think she needs a lot less 'sorting out' than Britney and Amy, agreed? and it's not exactly a crime to wear the same dress more than once you know.
