The Birth Of Home Video
Just watched a fascinating programme from the early '80s, just as the home video revolution was getting underway, satellite TV was a few years away, and Laser disks (that were apparently impossible to scratch according to the commentary!) were just becoming available on import.
You can see it on the ITV Local Wales site - it's the last programme listed under "Your channel 1980-1985" |

The home video revolution was definitely getting into gear by 1981 but there was more than one video disc format and they were all possible to scratch like cd. Importing discs was a pipe dream as UK players could not play NTSC until about 1990 when the first VCR and laserdisc players that could play the US system went on sale |
