I am thinking of buying a Digital HD telly and also getting Sky. Do I need the Sky HD box to receive HD pictures or will the telly receive HD pictures through a normal Sky box anyway?

To watch HD programming, you need a Sky HD box, as they are the only ones with the technology to receive and decode the programming (as well as the HD connections to send it to the TV).

You have to realise the difference between digital and HD. Digital TV via Freeview (at the moment) and standard Sky+ is not HD even if you have an HD TV. HD is digital but digital is not HD (like people are animals but animals are not people).

AT the moment if you want broadcast HD then you need a Sky HD box together with a £10 a month subscription if you want the Sky HD channels.
