PVR box slow to respond / freezing?

Does anyone else have the Tiscali PVR box but find it freezes once a day / is slow to respond to the remote?

By slow, I mean if I press a button it won't respond. If I hold down the button it will respond in about 4 or 5 seconds. Turning the box off, waiting a little while, then turning it back on seems to fix it for a bit, but not longer than a day usually.

Switching the box off and on again straight away doesn't seem to fix it.

I suspect it could be a memory leak of some sort, but I'm not technical enough to be sure - does anyone know if Tiscali are planning updated / fixed software any time soon?!?

I don't have Tiscali but I do know that certain remote controls are sensitive to fluorescent lighting and strong batteries - sounds strange doesn't it but it's proven. I'd make sure you're using cheap batteries.

Beyond that then for I'm sure someone who has your box/works for Tiscali can help you out as to any known problems with the software or box components issues.

And watch out for Goblins and Elves.

Seriously, what is a 'strong' battery?

I do understand what you mean, but connected to my TV I have:

A Nintendo Wii
An Xbox 360 (also used with media centre remote)
An Apple TV
... and Tiscali TV... and only Tiscali's box has any trouble with the remote, so I doubt it's the lighting.

I strongly suspect it's some dodgy programming somewhere. As I said, it needs resetting every day or so - making me think there's a memory leak somewhere, slowly filling up the box's RAM until it doesn't have any space left to work, and slowly grinds to a halt.

I would call tech support, they may want to swap the box out for you. Actually, befor you do, have you tryd changing the remote and STB frequency yet?
