Not that I know of.

Why not just connect the computer's speakers straight to the iPod?

Turn off auto-sync in iTunes and you should be fine. It's definitely possible to use the same iPod on more than one pc - I do it every day (home and work)!

yep turn of auto sync.

you're lucky if it had synced with the new computer it would have wiped your music!!! it's worth changing the default in iTunes.

you can listen to your music, the thing you can't do in iTunes is drag it from your iPod to your computer.

Actually music that's been purchased from the iTunes store can be synched to your other computer assuming that it's authorised to play music purchased under that account.

Try using winamp with the ipod plugin or mediamonkey and there are a couple more programs which should give you access to all your tunes without using itunes.

i noticed under the syncing tab in the preferences menu it says you can 'back-up' ipods onto the computer. how do you do this? does this mean i will be able to listen to the music on my ipod through the laptop without actually having to plug the ipod into the laptop? (if you get what i mean lol)

That doesn't actually refer to backing up of music I'm afraid - the backup option is just for the iPod touch (and the iPhone) to allow you to back up the preferences, contacts/calendar events (if they're not synched with an program on your computer) etc. - isn't for the music/videos on them
