4 Days left.....
So its nearly the end of February.... The deadline I was given by a Tiscali letter that I would be contacted and be offered the new packages.
I wont be holding by breath! I'll be moving to Sky if nothing materialises |

Not had a second letter yet but can't say i'm surprised, makes more sense for them to sort out all the other problems they seem to be having first.
At least i hope that's the reason! |

I would advise you to jump ship. Four years with homechoice and not too many problems mainly sound issues. Customer service could not do enough to help out. Then comes along ticali, within 5 weeks i had 2 telsey boxs nothing but problems i.e. picture freezing box blacking out pixelation and blurred images especially during live sports on all channels including sky sports and setanta. If you get your letters offering you the new service you will be tied in for another 12 months. Im off to sky on the introduce a friend scheme where you get sky plus and the install for free.

And I'm going to make a decision that could cause a major disruption in my internet service based on the advice of a someone with a post count of 1.
Right. And you are advertising Sky. |

lol @ peter we...
Seriously though enough is enough, I have heard all their excuses time and time again. I have been holding out for the PVR box since last september and have heard nothing but excuses from Tiscali. I already have sky tv and for an extra tenner a month I can get the 16meg service and free PVR box. The only reason I havn't jumped shipped already is because, well... I have been happy with "Homechoice", customer service has been the best I have had from any company and a very reliable service. I dont get that anymore from Tiscali, I dont feel like a valued customer... Im sure sky aren't that much different but at least they dont lie. Which lets face it, thats exactly what Tiscali do. They dont get their bad reputation for nothing! 2 days left Tiscali! |

You seriously expect me to sign up to Sky? no ****ing chance.
We are all quite aware of Tiscali's reputation, however, changing to a service with another ISP when they are all crap is a gamble that isn't worth taking until there is a problem. For now my service is great and I'll stay put until I HAVE to move. |

How do you know that HC service has deteriorated? My service is identical to what is was before and regardless of a couple of people complaining here about CS, the vast majority will be perfectly happy with their service. I, like most I suspect, will only consider changing if I need to and it certainly won't be to sky which is expensive and full of crappy TV services that unlike Tiscali are not 'acceptable' as you put it.
Oh, and Sky is way more expensive. |

I think most people are happy with the service tiscali/homechoice whatever you wish to call it.
The only problem/gripe is when something goes wrong how the respective companies deal with the issues. I for one was never without a service for more than a day at most with homechoice, with tiscali its about 2 weeks and still waiting.... |

Oh, and Sky is way more expensive. 2, Price comparisons full product range- tiscali top package £ 25 add kids music and entertainment £18 add sky sports and movies £30 (only 5 movie channels) setanta £10 (only 3 channels) TOTAL £83 per month Sky- sky world £45 (twice as many movie channels) upgrade to 8 mg BB £5 upgrade to anytime calls £5 sky phone line to match tiscalis package £10 setanta £10 (10 channels) TOTAL £75 per month Plus with tiscali you miss out on lots more channels eg bravo and The history channel just to name two. Look this is not a comparison thread between tiscali and sky and i realise that having a basic package with tiscali would work out cheaper thn sky. Yourself and Masai should be wary about entering a new 12 month contract just to recieve a new pvr which has no end of problems (read ticalis forums) Reading the forums made up my mind to move on. Once again i know that it is all a matter of opinion. Good luck on which way you choose to go. |

Please don' forget that not everyone can get Sky( in flats etc) and with the property builds going on today these numbers are only going to increase. It goes without saying that any new houseing developments aren't going to get cable either. So IPTV is the only choice for some.

I have had nothing but a wonderfeul experience with HC and now Tiscalli. Been with them since they started.
I would advise people to stay and stick it out. Why would anyone go to sky for Sky Plus? Just get a PVR from Argos. |

Actually, new builds are not neccessarily an issue anyone. Although that probably depends on the 'quality' of the build. Most developers realise that people will want digital TV someway and, unless they want minidishes all over the outside of their nice new appartment blocks, they'll organise a communal dish and wire the place up for Sky during construction. At least, that's what was happening when I was looking at various new builds around London.

My newbuild (moved in in December) is wired up with aerial and also a communal dish with connections to support Sky+. But I stuck with Tiscali as I had Homechoice at my old address and would miss the VOD, especially the music.
No cable in my street because back when cable was being laid one side (where my flat now stands) was a small industrial estate and the other was mostly semi-derelict or squatted and I guess it would be too expensive for Virgin Media to bother cabling it all up. |

well what makes me laugh is evenjumping ship doesnt guarantee the end of the misery. i did exactly that back in july 2007 and still got bills from tiscali up until january this year. finally sorted though and damn am i glad to shot of them.
four years with homechoice and yeah i had my complaints with them in that time who wouldnt over 4 years but certainly no more than any other isp issues and certainly nothing worth leaving over. anyway i moved to virgin media. xl packages on tv , phone and internet gave me huge discounts ( i pay £45 a month). i get catch up tv and VoD, free calls anytime and 20 meg broadband. aprt from one glitch on the service with the phone in the first month ive not had to phone customer support at all. yeah they arent perfect no isp is. but compared to the shambles that homechoice turned into when tiscali took over then virgin media are saints |

What are you talking about? Nothing about HC has changed for since Tiscali took over. I lost email for a few hours a few months ago, but 'shambles' ..thats an exaggeration. Besides, you haven't been a customer for 8months |

Besides, you haven't been a customer for 8months how much do you get paid to suck up to HC on here because thats all you ever do. There are a 1000 people on here who would agree with me that since the take over the old HC service has become a complete shambles. and then 7 months of billing for phone calls despite the fact my phone line should have been terminated in july and the new tennant in my old property making use of that fact and tiscali still billing me for it even though i had letters to prove i no longer lived there and that the service should have been terminated. so Please define for me in your mighty wisdom, if thats not a shamble just what the hell is exactly. oh sorrry forgot you probably getting paid by the word by tiscali not to say anything derogatory against them... another £20 for Peter we please courtesy of Tiscali butt kissing department |

the shambles in question was between february and july when i was with tisacli /homechoice after the takeover. every month incorrect billing, a total of 11 outages for periods longer than 12 hours ( only one in 4 years under hc branding). Customer support at an all time level of incompetence. need i go on.
