Seems like forever! And this week it's back up to 13! Great song though, as was the original.

Anyone got sales figures or length of chart run?

Funny that with all the critical acclaim she has had, her most successful release is a cover.

It is such a brilliant song. I think Radio 1 should play it a bit more often - they only ever seem to play Rehab by Amy Winehouse - they should do a few of her other songs. Anyway, I'm pleased that its sticking in the Top 40. Its actually the best an Amy Winehouse single has ever done - yet it only Feat.(s) her.

Another version of the song credited only to Winehouse appeared on the UK Singles Chart at the same time as the Ronson collaboration, peaking at number thirty-seven and spending, to date, thirteen non-consecutive weeks on the chart.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerie...Zutons_song%29

So by the looks one has had 22 weeks and the other had 13 weeks

I completely understand why downloads should be allowed in today's singles chart but it does make the charts very stale now. Songs just hang around forever as people find it so easy to download loads of songs by people they half like.

So many songs just hang around like a bad smell now for months on end which even in the so-called good old days of the singles chart just wouldn't happen.

quite the opposite - the original sounds like a very bad cover version of Amy winehouse

I have actually never hated a song so much in my whole entire life - ever! I will listen to anything other than that! (yep, even crazy frog!)

I have no idea how it has done so well!!

I am still of the opinion that The Zutons version is better and I know i'm in the minority.

I like both versions but the Zutons original is the better version IMO.

She's hardly alone in that though. Elvis Presley and Soft Cell are two other very random examples.

Personally, I prefer the Zutons version of Valerie. In one of the papers today Mark Ronson apparently said the Zutons have been able to buy a house with the royalties from his and Amy Winehouse's cover. I don't know if he was joking, but I bet the Zutons have made a lot of money out of it.

I don't think that version was officially released as such- I think it charted just due to download sales, and I think it's mostly been outside the top 40.

I suppose time will tell, but I think Rehab might end up being the song Amy Winehouse is remembered for. That has spent 56 weeks on the chart in total.

I can't believe people are saying its so awful. I think its one of Amy Winehouse's best songs. I was a fan of The Zutons and still am but I think she's made her it her own. Also, Valerie's highest position was at No.2 while Rehab could only get to No.7. Given how big Amy Winehouse is now, I think her next few singles will be guaranted places in the Top Ten and definitely a No.1 slot.

I just hope I never ever hear it ever again...EVER! Does an hour go by on TV where it's not played either in an advert or as the background on a show? The same goes for You Know I'm No Good, but at least that's a good bearable song.

I wonder who's still buying it? It's been out for ages, surely anyone who wanted it would have bought/downloaded it by now.

Still a brilliant song though

i like the way songs hang around now as opposed to most of the 90s when they'd shoot into no1 then disappear straight away again!
