I was curious as to how they cast Big Brother USA, considering all the twists that they put in.

For example, I find it hard to believe that in BB5, that Nakomis and Cowboy weren't already picked. Also in BB8 with the whole enemy twists, and the Ex Factor BB (think it was season two).

Do they cast the same as here in the UK, with open auditions etc, or is there a pre-requisite to going in?

About NAkomins and cowboy, what I wanna know is, how they were able to know about them being siblings, without Cowboy or NAkomis knowing, and even without their dad knowing. I mean it still bothers me to this day, makes me think it was kind of fixed. But maybe I am wrong! Only the mother knew!

Can someone explain how that was possible if youve seen BB5. I personally think one of them at least was in on it! Probably cowboy!

I did read somewhere ages ago that they had applied a couple of times and were linked as they have to give family details. when they brought up the Project DNA show, they approached the father and he was all for it as he never knew how to approach the situation at all. How true it is, I don't know, but I can see it after the info about Dick and Danielle came out that they'd applied several times separately, then put together in one show.
I know with the twins, they never applied, they were approached through an agency

Shelia said the other night that she saw an advert on something called Craiglist (or something like that) and they wanted a woman 20 - 45 for a dating show, which turned out to be this BB.

A lot of the housemates over the years were cast through agents and not general applications like we have.

For the current BB9 they contacted past applicants rather than hold new auditions. I guess time was short for putting this Winter edition in place due to the writers strike.

Dick said on Housecalls that they knew him down at the BB auditions. Dani was there at a different time, and they said 'Hey Dick, we saw Dani here today, did she come with you?'
And he was like 'No, she hasn't spoken to me for 2 years'.

I remember hearing about that as well, not sure if i read it on the net or watched a show that explained it.

Never knew the twins were through an agency though.

One question thats been bugging me is how do they get to hear they are going on the show,i cant believe they find their key in their bedroom, place of work etc.

I believe their families are told they have made it on the show and are told to hide the key for them. But it's pretty obvious that they've made it on the show if they have a bloody camera following them!

The open auditions for BB10 started a couple of weeks ago.

Actually they did hold open casting calls and accepted applications and videos like normal.

Immediately after a season ends they have the downloadable application up, eligibility requirements/help with application.

With Big Brother 9 CBS began to prepare for it shortly after the strike began and on November 14 open casting calls were announced and completed by early December. Then in mid-December/January they began to have semi-finalists/finalist interviews and by late January they had the cast. The HouseGuests were in sequester until they entered the House on Feb. 7

And they have begun casting for Big Brother 10 with the application up and places where open casting calls will be held.
