Who the hell created that?

When did you first hear of such a thing?

"Victors Takeaway" in the late 70's was the first time I tried deep fried pizza. Have missed it ever since I move down south..

If you ate one of them a week you would go down like a shed in a gale

They are a regular staple in chip shops in Scotland. There is a strong Italian influence there so maybe that is why the Neapolitan way of cooking them transferred - presumably in the 1940s/50s

I tried one in a "Chippie" in Glasgow, but it wasn't in batter...

Often wondered how they managed to keep the toppings on the damn thing - they cooked it there in front of me, just dropped it straight into the fryer... and viola a batter less deep fried Pizza... and so damn moreish

I tried deep frying some slices of a shop bought one and all the toppings just floated off, so all I was left with was the base and a side-plateful of greasy ham and pineapple.. and some very burnt cheese..

The base tasted lovely though...

Very nice they are, along with a lot of deep fried things!

Had one for the first time in years last week and it was worth the wait!

I've had fritters, which I imagine are much the same thing only bigger and flatter.

eurrgh, I don't like fried food but I guess it must appeal to some. Pizza though, that just doesn't seem right.

That's just one Indian that does that, not "they" in general.
