You didn't really, just letting you know.
It was on the news a few weeks ago. Comes with a health warning apparently.

I'm not surprised!! I wonder what the calorie content for one of those is let alone the saturated fat.... yuk...

Scottish Chippy's Deep fry everything.

I've seen the fried pizzas but never faced one. It certainly wasn't heavily battered. Even the pies are deep fried without batter.

There is a Chippy in Glasgow that I've heard of that does a deep fried kebab called the Doner Stoner - I understand there's a sign in the shop indicating the health warning and you're only allowed to buy 1 a week (or possibly even month)

I'm surprised they can get away with that now, what with the emphasis on healthy eating these days. But I guess there is no such organisation to enforce a ban on what people can sell in their establishments.

I was almost 20 years old before I had a pizza that was not deep- fried!

I always assumed this is how they were cooked as a young person growin up in Scotland in the 1970's. Having said that, I have not had one deep fried since the bloody mid 80's nor do I look forward to another one anytime soon.

Deep Fried pizzas are tasty. You could go down the street for lunch when I was at school and get 1/2 pizza, chips and a can of coke for £2.50.

I tried them when I lived in Scotland, never seen them down here - ever!

It was nice, like massive thick fried bread.

Sometimes used to have kids version (!) which was just 1/4 battered pizza with chips - Mmmm, lovely but you can feel your arteries hardening while you're eating it!

Does it just look battered?

Yep, the battered pizza is a great Scottish delicacy! I used to on occasion treat myself to a 'half pizza supper' from a certain Glasgow chippy - quite literally half a battered pizza, with chips. Fandabidozi!

Fried pizzas are amazing. Although it's probably best not to have one too often...

Sorry, I know you were asking AntL, not me, but just thought I'd put you out of your misery.

Yes, it's batter like you'd have on fish, the pizza is literally deep fried.

I always get a deep fried pizza supper (with cheese) and chippy sauce when I am coming home from a night out. Or when nursing a hangover. You can't beat a good bit of grease.

Having always lived in Scotland I wasnt aware that this wasnt available in England. 1/2 pizza suppers are yummy

Anyway... It could be a completely daft question, but if you get a sausage supper in England, does the sausage have batter on it?

You can have them with or without batter.

One thing the chippys in Scotland don't seem to sell is saveloys. I had to have a saveloy when i moved back home, just cos I hadn't had one for years!

Where i live in Scotland, you can either get a pizza supper which is just a fried pizza or you can get a pizza crunch which is pizza in batter fried.

I have to say, they are really fattening, but my god they are tasty!!!
