Hi ! I have just had a Humax pvr 8000T and it has 1-00-14 update 3-Sept-2004. Is there a newer version? and how can I install please.

I think there was an OTA upgrade a couple of years ago but it didn't change the box in terms of functionality so I think it just fixed a couple of minor bugs perhaps. My 8000 worked perfectly before and after the upgrade and still does so it wasn't crucial. The software doesn't seem to be available on Humax's website and I don't think the 8000 can be upgraded manually anyway - needs a serial port on the rear panel and I don't think it has one.

Yes it can, but instead of the normal D connector it has a miniature Din plug thingy. Humax used to send you an adaptor if you emailed them.

The latest software is version 2.00.01 and is available HERE. There is an RS232C port on the back panel but it is a 3pin mini DIN socket. I understand that Humax will supply the short 9pin to 3pin connector free of charge. You will have to buy a 9pin to 9pin null modem cable, check that you have a COM port (9pin D connector) on your computer.
