Has anyone ever tried these veg box deliveries and if so what do you think.

I am pondering on trying them but wondered what people who had tried them thought ?

yes they are really good from our experience, we have a really nice local one.

they happily take out any ingrediants we dont like and adjust the price accordingly

Just looked at my local one, can only find the one and it looks really expensive.

Thanks for that anyway

I've had a veg box delivery for the past 3 or 4 years. Initially no-one did them in my area so I had to use Abel & Cole who delivered via parcel service. I have a large mixed box every two weeks, costs £22.00 which may seem expensive, but you get 14 different items (you can have likes & dislikes so you never get something you don't want) and lasts us pretty much the fortnight (with a few extras from the supermarket.

Overall, I've been really pleased, the quality is excellent, Abel & Cole are a fabulous company to do business with and now they have a depot locally its even better as I can buy additional items from them.

I think for the quality and variety of fruit & veg, the box scheme is better value than the supermarket. If you're lucky enough to have a decent farmers market locally then this may be your answer to something more reasonably priced. We have quite a good one in Birmingham city centre but sadly weekdays only during working hours!

One thing to bear in mind with the cost - is the taste! You get what you pay for and I am absolutely 100% certain that my box scheme fruit & veg tastes far better than anything you can pick up from a supermarket shelf.

I use Flights Orchard Organics. Delivery is on a Friday and they leave it behind the gate. They publish what you're getting on their website the week before and you can phone up and change anything you don't like. Everything is amazingly fresh, all weird shapes and covered in muck!!
