Series Link programmes disappearing from Scheduled Recordings List.

This has happened to me a few times now.

There were four programmes scheduled to record yesterday, all on series link and including

Grand Designs Revisited, C4 9-10pm and
Dexter, ITV 10.35-11.40pm.

All programmes recorded ok but Grand Designs and Dexter have now completely disappeared from the scheduled recordings list. This has happened in the past with Kingdom and Primeval.

Is it a problem for anyone else?

I haven't seen it personally but I have had reports of it happening. At the moment the trigger causing recordings to be dropped from the schedule is not understood and it doesn't follow a repeatable pattern. Unless anyone here can spot anything. I believe that Humax are aware.

I had several scheduled recordings that just didn't happen, although future episodes were still listed with the record icon.

Initially I put it down to the broadcasters messing about with series IDs but when I paid more attention I could see some programs were due to record but nothing happened.

It had been running OK for about 6 weeks, so I get the impression that the software slowly fell over.

All my gremlins seem to have been cured by a power cycle - fingers crossed.

I have had problems with Emmerdale and the Bill.

I've had quite a few problems like this, but interestingly they all have one single common factor:

ITV

None of my series links have failed with the BBC, but many have with ITV which makes me wonder if they're messing up the series link data somehow.

We have had this too - but ours happened on BBC so I don't think its a particular broadcaster. Happened with Casualty for certain.

On as side point anybody recording Echo Beach last night would have got Moving Wallpaper as i noticed both the EPG and the NOW/NEXT did not tie up with the program being broadcast on ITV. Well it was like that for Bilsdale anyway.
I guess ITV were running about 25 mins late?

Which problem are you referring to? The thread started with a report about series link programs vanishing from the schedule; is this what you are reporting or is it failed series link recordings?

During ITV 6:30 News they announced that News at Ten would be extended......to an Hour.

We recorded 5 series linked programmes yesterday evening All recorded ok, two have now disappeared from the schedule.

Waterworld ITV 7.30 - 8.00. At the top of the schedule, waiting for the next programme to be found.
Jamie at Home, 2 half hour programmes C4 from 8.00 - 9.00. Both recorded ok, but the series has disappeared from the schedule
Ashes to Ashes BBC1 9.00 - 10.00. Updated to next week correctly (hooray!)
Trial & Retribution ITV 9.00 - 10.00. Recorded ok, but the series has disappeared from the schedule.

ITV & C4 seem to be the problem channels, but surely the Humax box should be retaining the series links at the top of the schedule even if it can't update the programme information.

I notice that you had a confluence at 9.00pm (stop time for one series, start time for two other series). Trying to track down bugs is often about spotting the significant factor. Perhaps three or four series-linked recordings meeting at a single time is significant? Have other people had disappearing series reservations in these circumstances?

Yes this is a bug; the question is tow work out under what circumstances it occurs. Would people reporting this problem give as much detail as possible.

I forgot the Bill ITV 8.00 - 9.00. That recorded and updated correctly. I'm not even sure why we're recording that one.

It's a possibility that simultaneous recordings are causing a problem, but that wouldn't explain Dexter on Wednesday evening which disappeared when nothing else was recording.

It would be useful to know whether anyone else has Trial & Retribution and Jamie at home on series link, If so, what happened to your schedule? I've tried to reschedule Jamie at Home, but it wants to schedule repeats as well. The Humax box couldn't find a Trial & Retribution for next week.

The casualty was a vanishing series linked schedule.

The other point about echo beach/moving wallpaper was just a comment on the fact the schedule and Now/Next on ITV wasn't updated so anybody with failed series linked recordings with them was down to the data available.

Shame they "forgot" to update the data for the epg as well then! You would have thought this was an automated process these days.

I had a strange event on Jamie at home last night as well.
As you said both episodes recorded as expected but when I check my schedule it still showed the 8:30 episode.
When I went forward a week next weeks episodes where not set to record.

So I deleted the scheduled recording and set next weeks episodes to series link.
When I then checked the schedule it showed a repeat episode for Sat 1st.
Either C4 have messed with the programme ID or it has finished and they are showing repeats?

Yep, I also had disappearing schedule items. It was becoming far too unreliable - Hence the original post. Funnily enough, now AR is switched off, things are becoming a lot smoother...

I had the disappearing schedules for the England Rugby game and primeval. Both were selected using the series link option.

I'm on the lastest version & loader.

I've had the disappearing SR timer problem, and at one stage, one disappeared at the end of the series. This is probably like your Primeval, which has just finished. This led me to go crazy and thought there was an 'end of series' marker in the FP metadata!

This happened to me on an old 9200T box, which has since been replaced, and it has not happened again on the replacement... But I did notice that the timers disappeared 'around' a powercycle (power off and on using the switch at the back.)

Hands up those who have had disappearing SR timers after a powercycle?

Nope - switched the box off and on on Friday morning and all SR links are still present and correct

No, I meant, if you had an SR timer disappeared, had you recently done a powercycle?

I know that powercycling your box does not delete SR timers!!

This weekend's recordings.
Saturday.
Love Soup. 9:00pm - 9:30pm. Nothing else recording, box was probably tuned to BBC1. Recorded ok but disappeared from schedule.

Sunday.
Antiques Roadshow. BBC1 7:00pm - 8:00pm. Recorded ok but disappeared from schedule, we were chase playing Antiques when Lark Rise started to record.
Lark Rise to Candleford. BBC1. 8:00pm - 9:00pm. Recorded & rescheduled ok.
The Last Enemy. BBC1. 9:00pm - 10:00pm. Recorded & rescheduled ok.
Lewis. ITV. 9:00 - 11:00pm. Recorded & rescheduled ok.
We were chase playing Lewis whilst Last Enemy and Lewis were recording

So:

BBC1 is now implicated as well as ITV & C4.
Recording two programmes at once doesn't seem to be a deciding factor.
Recording one programme after another doesn't seem to be a deciding factor.
Chase playing doesn't seem to be a deciding factor.
Antiques Roadshow isn't on next week, but other programmes just sit at the top of the schedule waiting for the next showing, so that shouldn't be a factor.
Love Soup is on next week, so doesn't have an excuse!
We are well within the 25 series link progs limit.
I'll do a reset to defaults later in the week, reschedule all the series link programmes and see what happens from there.

I think that my original method of scheduling is probably the most reliable - Mug of tea, chocolate biscuit, copy of Radio Times, highlighter pen, then set recordings on a daily basis.

Has the power to your box been turned off recently?

About a week ago. First time for ages. Programmes have disappeared from schedule before and after that. Disappearance only happens straight after a relevant recording I think.

I switched off at the back to try to get rid of the annoying "active standby", which seems to have kicked in recently. It didn't work!
