Stubborn?! Moi?!”

I don't like those two either and I would add Bleeding Love to the list which seems to be played every 4 or 5 songs. I have to turn it off.

Nor can I or millions of others. It works like a remote control for the off switch.
Have you noticed the cheering from the audience anyone who takes the p out of it on shows like Buzzcocks gets?

I would like to echo that. I too live in Wales and that Razorlight song is still being completely saturated by ALL of the local radio stations - I think it's an attempt to try and be a bit "hip" with indie fans.

All I know is that the song is an absolute bore and I have no idea why it's still played so much - I must hear it every other day at least. They ought to re-record the lyrics to "nothing on the TV, nothing on Welsh radio except this song by me!"

Right rant over

As for popular songs I avoid - there have been loads recently, though I too wish to add my name to the Scouting for girls - elvis isn't dead. Overrated!

Right - recently (last 4 years at least) I have avoided the following like the plague:

2Pac & Elton John - Ghetto gospel (this was also overplayed by Welsh radio and it was sooo depressing because at the same time, Daniel Powter's equally "uplifting" 'Bad Day' was also out and being overplayed.)

Rihanna - Umbrella, Pon De Replay, SOS, Don't stop the music - hey, everything she records! I find her voice grating and it does nothing for me when I'm on a night out.

Shakira - Hips don't lie - again, I find her voice grating. This was also overplayed on... you guessed it... Welsh radio... AND Radio 1 - I think it had way too much coverage.

Pink - virtually every song she's released since 'Get the party started.'

Mika - Grace Kelly, Relax, take it easy, Big Girls - ALL overrated and what an annoying voice! I think he's trying to be Jake Shears on 'Relax' personally and it just doesn't quite cut it for me.

Akon, or should that be AKORN(?) featuring Pinky & Perky - Lonely.

Gwen Stefani - The Sweet Escape - the annoying "woo-ooo weee-ooo" was too much for me to take. ALSO overplayed.

Plain White Tees - Hey There Delilah - is becoming the new 'America' by Razorlight on Welsh radio

Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love - avoid like the plague!

Kylie Minogue - Can't get you out of my head

Will Young - Evergreen

You're probably thinking what do I like that's been out recently? Surprisingly quite a lot!

I've really enjoyed Lupe Fiasco's stuff, I don't mind the remix of the Utah Saints' Something Good (surprisingly because I hated the original mix at the time), I like The Feeling's "Thought it was over" but I fear I won't like it for much longer - I heard it over 6 weeks ago for the first time and it's starting to get a little repetitive.

Oh can I add that I also avoid "Don't look back in anger" and "wonderwall" by oasis?

I equally run away and hide whenever I hear anything from the Grease soundtrack or "Summer of 69" by Bryan Adams.

Umbrella, Don't Stop the Music - Rihanna

All I can think of at the mo.. There are loads more, believe me!

TBH though, Beatles are crap!

All down to personal taste though i suppose...just because everyone shoves the whole "Beatles are the greatest band ever" routine down my throat it doesn't mean I have to like them.

I think if you compare some of The Doors stuff for example then there is no contest. Jim Morrison beats Lennon and McCartney in lyrical ability any day...went slightly OT there sorry!

Oh, anything by James Blunt (apart from 1973, quite like that ) and Sean Kingston.

Anything by Kate Nash - Foundations is the most unbearable song I have heard in my 23 years on this planet, and god knows what the rest are like as I haven't heard them, nor do I wish to.

Anything by Scouting for Girls - what a load of rubbish they come up with. Irritating voices, bad lyrics, but I suppose if Kate Nash can win a Brit and NME awards then anyone can have a successful music career. (sic)

Anything by rappers

Kylie - Wow - her voice more than anything
Gym Class Heroes - Breakfast in America
Umbrella - Rihanna
Shakira - Hips Don't Lie
Beautiful Girls - Sean Kingston

And I'm sure it doesn't get played much, but Ronan's version of Iris.

Plus anything where the lyrics are about women from a laddish side of things.

That Chasing Pavements song kills me on the inside.

If we're going for oldies then "Everything I do, I do for you" by Bryan Adams - I agree with you about the Grease soundtrack, "Hopelessly Devoted to You" being particularly excruciating . Whitney Houston "I Will Always Love You" and"Dancing in the Moonlight"- Toploader

Oh yes as ole Churchill would say

The TV was on when I went home the other night, I think American Idol was on and somebody started their version of "Hopelessly devoted to you" - I say started because I wouldn't let them finish, off went the TV. Everything about that song gets on my nerves. Let's just say I had the misfortune of having to work with three Grease tribute acts in the space of a year and all of them were quite frankly imbeciles, which has certainly killed any prospect of me listening to anything from Grease ever again!

Another popular "oldie" I have to avoid like the plague is "I just called to say I love you" by Stevie Wonder. I had an argument with my grandmother yesterday - we had VH1 on in the background, Stevie came on and I reached for the remote to change the channel and got a right load of nonsense back from the old dear who loves the song. Grrrr.
I know it was one of Motown's biggest selling songs and all but it's not of Stevie's best - it's so commercial, the video is appalling and it just makes me wanna scream!

That's a rubbish excuse to be honest. The real reason most people moan is because they're lazy music listeners who've hardly got anything good to say. Too lazy to change the station/channel and certainly too lazy to look for music themselves rather than having it fed to them. Alot of them couldn't come up with something positive even if they wanted to.

At least, that's my experience of visiting this forum for the last few years .

Do you class yourself as one of them lazy people as I do see you have had a few moans in some of your past posts aswell??????

And as for changing the staion/channel etc you will find that sometime we have no say in what music is played eg pubs, clubs, work and shops.

Shakira-Hips Don't Lie...I actually like Shakira, I just don't like this song.
Bleeding Love-Leonna Lewis...the song itself is not terrible, and is easy to ignore, but it was still irritating to be subjected to it constantly.

I live in Wales as well and have noticed this too. I don't listen to the radio much but this song is constantly playing whenever I go to the hairdressers, in cafes, etc. What's going on? Is it part of a movement to get us out of Wales and heading for America? It wouldn't be so bad if it was a decent song but it's not.
