Holiday Cooking
Ok - I've just booked my holiday and really don't mind doing the cooking whilst on holiday. We eat out on the odd occasion but mainly we cook
What do you eat whilst on holiday? to you cook or eat out? |

We always say that we'll do a bit of both. But we end up eating out every night because neither of us can be bothered.
Except when we're camping. Those are the holidays where we cook most evenings. There's somethng different about that. |

When we go to Greece we always eat out at night, but I love cooking lunch on the miserable excuse for a hob you always get!

Interspersed with the odd dip in the pool of course!

We went to France last year as a group of 6 adults and we cooked for ourselves every night. The supermarkets in France are fantastic. Fresh seafood, salads and vegetables every day. Their fresh bread and patesserie is to die for.
I have had 3 restaurant meals in France and each one has been very disappointing. One was 1 michelin star and it was appalling! I can honestly say it was the worst meal I have ever had. Nice ambiance though! I love France but their reputation for fantastic food is not down to their restaurants. |

We camp in France - markets, fresh fish on the BBQ, amazing fruit and veg, cheeses, olive oil, wine etc - can think of no reason to go to a restaurant.

I agree, the best ingredients with very little done to them is all you need for great food. One of my favourite meals is a plate of spaghetti tossed with a few slivers of garlic, sea salt, black pepper, the finest olive oil and a grating of parmesan. A hunk of crusty bread and a glass of ice cold Chablis and you have a feast fit for any King..

We always go all-inclusive, so we never have to do anything ourselves. We do however, still eat out severaly times during the two weeks away. It always works out cheaper IMO
Each to their own, but to us its not a holiday if we are cooking

We spend our summer holidays on our boat, so it really depends where we go. If we go to France/Holland/Channel islands, we eat out a few times and I cook the rest (our kids learned to love moules frites at a very early age
)If we spend it in the Uk, I tend to cook more - at least I have an oven on this boat. I am just in the process of restocking the cupboards for the new season and I must admit to getting a bit carried away ![]() Our friends tend to live from tins making "boat stew" whereas I try to cook similar meals to when we are at home. I do get the mickey taken out of me though - ours is the only boat in the club equipped with a pair of scales and balsamic vinegar
