Thanks. Looks like it'll be a while before I buy that again. Even as an occasional treat it's a bit much.

I have personally never tried normal So Good Soya Milk, only the chocolate variety. However I would recommend Alpro's Vanilla flavoured Soya Milk (yellow carton). It is expensive because it's also organic, around £1.35 a carton, and you can only seem to get it in Sainsbury's and Waitrose, but it is very good for things like cereals etc. Also the taste of soya can be a bit off-putting for some people, so the vanilla flavour covers it nicely.

I would say it's quite sweet, but not as sweet as Rice Dream , which I personally don't like at all.

I read recently that the word "vegetarian" comes from an old Sioux Indian word, it roughly translates to...

Crap hunter...

I prefer Alpro over So Good. If I remember rightly I think I found So Good a little too sweet.

That's strange... I've just checked Waitrose (Ocado online) and they've still got the Cauldron Marinated Pieces at £1.87, but it states "Tesco Price Match"!!

Better get to Waitrose PDQ and buy up any existing stock before they realise...!

Oops - nearly forgot...

Waitrose currently have Organic Strawberries at half price - now £1.99 (400g). Am eating some right now...!

I'm surprised you were able to read anything, considering this is a thread about, V e g a n S p e c i a l D e a l s.

P.S. I wrote that slowly for you.

Thanks for the tip!

Not really a deal... but Waitrose (at least my local one) is now doing Taifan Oganic tofu as well as Cauldron Foods. It looks a lot smaller though is the same weight (because it has less water in it!).

A pack Taifan costs 1.29 and Cauldron's is 1.45 so Taifan is better value as well as being better quality.

Thanks for that, John. I still haven't been able to find Taifun since it was recommended in my Tofu thread. I've been mostly shopping online recently, and I've just checked with Ocado and they don't stock the tofu, just the frankfurters. I've submitted one of their new product requests though, so will see what transpires...

My wife and I were very surprised to see it on the Waitrose shelf yesterday, it was sitting in between the Cauldron Foods tofu and the frankfurters you mentioned. Yet it had no shelf ticket for it yet so must be very very new for them to stock it.

Best of luck.

Those lovely Cauldron Organic Marinated Tofu Pieces are currently only £1.20 at Waitrose, until 13/05 or while stocks last!

Typical. The one shop I can't get to easily. I noticed the other day that Asda were selling them for £2.04, just a penny cheaper than Tesco or Sainsburys, so it looks like it's been an across the board increase.

Anyway, I was just in Tesco and noticed the Alpro Soya yoghurts (4x125g) are back on offer at 2 for £2.50 (£1.48 individually). The offer applies to both the Strawberry and Peach varieties.

Hi, Unknown. Could you not order online from Waitrose/Ocado? If you need to do a big shop and spend over £75, you can get delivery from only £1, dependent on the day and time of delivery.

Orders below £75 are charged at a minimum of £3 and maximum of £6, again depending on delivery time, so it's pretty reasonable really when you consider petrol costs, and for people like me with mobility problems, online shopping is a godsend!

Those prices for delivery aren't actually too bad. Plus as you say it would be worth a few quid for delivery to save on time and petrol getting out to Waitrose. I'll look into it. Thanks.

You're welcome!

I'm about to book my delivery slot and just wanted to add that some of the later evening deliveries are actually free! (again - orders over £75)

I've just been browsing Ocado (Waitrose Deliver don't operate in my area yet). Can you not get products from Wicken Fen and Redwood Foods through this service? I've found the Cauldron and the Taifun products, but can't seem to find the Wicken Fen/Redwood Foods ones. Are they not available or am I looking in the wrong place?

No, I don't think they are available through Ocado as yet, unfortunately . You could try filling out one of their new product requests online. I did that with Taifun tofu a while ago though, and so far that's still not available...

Sorry for the late reply, BTW - only just seen your post!

No problem, thanks for the info. They seem to offer quite a good selection of products online anyway, so I might be able to get an order together.

I've just come across this site - Abel & Cole. They supply organic fruit and veg to your door. However they also stock a reasonable range of vegan products from a company called Dragonfly Foods. Like other companies, Dragonfly Foods also make non-vegan foods. However the Abel & Cole site clearly states whether a product is suitable for vegans, and lists the ingredients for each item, which is also useful.

Delivery is free, and until this Thursday (3rd August), they are offering 10% off on all Dragonfly Foods products.

I've never used them before, so I don't know what they're like. However I thought others might be interested.

^ Ooh yes, very interested, thanks Unknown! In fact, that's a bit of a coincidence - I had a leaflet from them through the letterbox just this morning! There's an offer of a free fruit & veg box, worth £15.95 when you spend over £25 on your first order (before 31/08), so it's got to be worth a go what with free delivery too!

I'll definitely have a look at the website later today - thanks again!

No problem. I also don't know why I've put the 10% offer as ending this Thursday. It does indeed end on 3rd August, but that is of course this Sunday, not tomorrow.

I've never seen Alpro tofu though, have you? (one of the tick-box options in the section asking about Alpro products you use)

^^

The only place I've ever seen it is Asda, but even when in Asda, it seems to be quite elusive. It isn't on sale at any of the Asda's that are local to me, nor have I ever seen it at any of the Asda's I've been to on the Wirral.

However I have seen it at Asda Westbrook in Warrington. Weirdly this is a normal size Asda, and stocks it, yet an Asda Walmart Supercentre I go to doesn't.

I didn't buy a pack last time I was out at Warrington as the Cauldron Tofu was cheaper, but price depending, I may give it a try next time I'm out that way.

Went to Waitrose tonight with Mrs Elway to get their fresh ready made tomato, garlic and chili cheeseless pizza. Only to find out that they seemed to have stopped doing it.

Then Mrs Elway found a new one, I guess the pizza that replaced it. Similar to the previous one but had peppers, aubergine, cherry tomatoes and basil infused olive oil. It says the usual 'suitable for vegetarians' but it's vegan and bloomin amazing!

Check it out.

Oh thanks for the reply, I'd forgotten to look back. My nearest Asda is about twenty miles away, haven't been for ages. I've just looked up the tofu on their website - I see they do it in a mince as well. Not much good if you can't get hold of it though! Mind you, I'm happy enough with the Cauldron tofu. I've been experimenting a bit with the silken style, too (Dragon Foods, I think?), have made some lovely cakes!
