Yes I know! I was so disappointed when I tried to order one online a few weeks ago and they'd gone! I do like making my own, but it was just nice not to have to now and again

“Then Mrs Elway found a new one, I guess the pizza that replaced it. Similar to the previous one but had peppers, aubergine, cherry tomatoes and basil infused olive oil. It says the usual 'suitable for vegetarians' but it's vegan and bloomin amazing!

Check it out. ”

Oooh I can't wait to try it! I've just had a look on Ocado, bit pricey I thought, but I'll treat myself soon! There's a tomato and roast garlic pizza thingy there too - looks vegan to me - I'll have to give them both a try - thanks John

I was in Tesco yesterday and noticed that the Alpro Soya Desserts - 4x 125g in Vanilla, Caramel and Chocolate - are currently 2 for £2 or £1.43 each. They can be found with the non-chilled 'Free From' ranges.

I wish I had the drive/strength to be a vegan. I am too lazy though and rely on fast food too much.

I'd never looked in the food board here on DS, thinking that as a vegan I'd not find very much of interest....so imagine how pleased I am to find this thread.

I'm an inveterate bargain hunter so will post news from the supermarkets I think is useful for other vegans here.

Mrs. Drian and I are both vegan and so are the 2 Doggies Drian (ok, I'll await the howls of protest from all who believe that can't be right!) which means we get through up to 2 litres of Alpro Blue soya milk a day!

I tend to keep an eye for offers on this stuff and buy in bulk...only last weeekend we secured 49 litres from Morrisons (would have been 52 but just as we'd loaded all of the shelf stock into our trolley someone asked if 'we really needed all that....' and we handed over 3 cartons). Morrisons were 94p a litre. Holland Barret are charging 1.45 a litre!!!

Now...is there a thread somewhere here on the best time to go to a supermarket for the cheap bread....?

^^

Although I like Alpro Soya Milk, I do find that it can get expensive, even when you find it at a cheaper price like you did in Morrisons. As such, I've taken to trying supermarket own-brand Soya Milk. Neither Asda nor Morrisons Soya Milk states whether it is suitable for vegans (can't be too careful), however I've found Tesco and Sainsbury's own-brand Soya Milk is labelled, and is just as good as the Alpro. It typically costs around 63p per litre carton, so compared to the Alpro, you can end up saving quite a bit.

The problem with own brand is that they can change manufacturers, so you buy a load and find it tastes different to the previous batch. I have used some Holland and Barret 'sweetened with apple juice' which has been fine for 99p/litre.

A different bargain worth noting at Morrisons..

Redwood Deli slices..sage and Onion and Beef style..usually at about 90p (1.40 ish anywhere else). This has been the case for a couple of years at Morrisons so it's not a short term offer. Find them near the (egg ridden) Quorn.

Just to update on the above offer on Alpro desserts, the offer is also available in Sainsburys. Speaking of which, I was in there yesterday and having heard rumours of a vegan ice cream, I checked their freezers and found it. It's branded as 'Swedish Glace' and is £1.99 for a 750g tub. I tried some of the vanilla flavour I bought earlier, and it's great. It also comes in a chocolate variety for the same price, which I intend to try next time.
