Hi there,
Just to explain I am a complete novice here.
I have a Sony Bravia KDL-32V2500 LCD tv. I also have the Virgin+ box the virgin box was set up by the engineer when it arrived. I have contacted Virgin but they have said its not their problem I need to get an engineeer out to connect the tv and DVD! My Virgin+ only has 22 hours recording time remaining and I want to save the recordings to DVD. I cannot seem to connect the DVD recorder through the tv to record the DVD recorder says signal is too weak.
I have the Virgin+ connected to the tv by HDMI lead. I have a mass of scart leads and component leads but cannot get this right at all.
Can anyone assist with a dot to dot instruction as to how to connect the three together?

The DVD player is a cheapy from Asda - Cyberhome DVR1600. it has two scarts s video Composite video all the connections. It will play through the tv but it won't receive the signal from the V+ box.
As I said I have no real understanding as to what is happening normally I follow the instructions and it works but for some reason it won't pick up from the V+ box.

Connect the V+ via scart to the TV and see if you get a picture, at least you will then know if the V+ is actually kicking out a signal on scart when connected to a TV via HDMI.
Also worth checking to make sure the V+ and the DVDr are both using the same signal, the V+ could be sending RGB and the DVDr expecting s-video.

Worth asking in the cable forum as well, you'll find more V+ users there

Thanks for that. I don't think the box is sending any signal through the scart . It seems to be sending everything through the HDMI lead, this seems to override everything. i have altered the settings to make sure the DVD is on RGB as well. I will try the cable forum as you say.
Thanks again.

when you use HDMI cable scart is disabled

there may be a software update when they sort the problem out

when you use hdmi the scart picture is rubbish

HOWEVER

if you archive a recorded programme whilst using HDMI then the VCR scart will allow a signal to be sent to the video/ dvd recorder

Excuse my ignorance how do I archive a recording?
This is driving me mad. I have deleted some films after I have watched them but some I would like to keep so if I could manage somehow to copy them to DVD that would be great.

Could it be that some virgin+ boxes have the fault and others not. I can't believe I am the only person who can't record?

I rang Virgin Media and they told me to get an engineer to my TV or DVD player because the fault is at my end. If I do that and it turns out to be a software issue I have wasted £50. But also if they have charged me £150 for something that does not work properly then I should get some money back or something? Do you think this is something the rest of the country knows about but me?

Thanks for your help I will look in the handbook at archiving and see what happens.
