Phones 4 U today
Hi,
I wonder if you could help me out on this here, this morning I currently had a K850i which i bought myself at christmastime and O2 Simplicity £30 a month for 1200 mins and unlimited texts. I quite fancied getting a new phone which is slimmer and doesn't have touch screen so i decided i'd maybe go down the contract route where i'd get a new phone for free and sell my old one for money. I quite fancied the W890i which i saw advertised on some websites. First of all was tempted by 3 Mobile 1100 mins or texts for £32 per month. Then I saw other providers had it and even O2 had it but only 600 mins and unlimited texts for £35. I was at the shops and none of them had it in except Phones 4 U which i went in and saw what they could offer me at first they said they could offer me 750mins and unlimited texts for £40 per month which i thought reasonable as i was getting the phone for free this was on orange. Then they started putting it through and came back to me at the last minute after i'd done the check etc saying that they only offered it on vodafone or o2. She then said that she could give me the exact same deal on vodafone but couldn't keep my existing number! I said no as i want to keep my number. She then turned round and said she'd try and do an upgrade on O2 and after the whole process it worked but the deal was 600 mins 500 texts for £35 per month and £7.50 per month for unlimited texts equaling £42.50 per month so i went ahead as O2 keep MMS included within the texts and free voicemail also that fact that she told me that after 12 months i can go back in and they would buy out my contract and i'd be able to get a new one. So after nearly 2 hours in the shop I eventually walked out with the new phone and new sim card but also my sim card as well in my old phone. The new sim is inactive and O2 don't seem to have any record of change on my account. Will this take affect after 24 hours? Also why is it changing to contract after my next billing date is this normal for new contracts out of Phones 4 U? I kinda feel ripped off seeing that vodafone are doing the phone for £25 when you take out 750mins and unlimited texts for £30 per month and you can add Stop the Clock for £5. What should i do? Can i still take the phone back or would i lose my number? Or have i gained a free phone without my tariff changing? |

By going with Phones4U, you lose - and you're bound to hell, probably for another 1 year. Meanwhile, your mistake feeds that shark company, so they can prey on other people like yourself.

Thing is though i've phoned up O2 and they still think i'm changing from O2 Simplicity 35 to Simplicity 30 on the 7th March on my billing date. I never even mentioned the Phones 4 U contract.
Can anyone working for P4U confirm if it takes longer than this to set up? Or have I walked out of the shop without a contract? |

OP you'll never return if skanks4u dont give a toss about after service. Fell free to try though because you could've got a much better deal if you had gonen direct to the network. |

Twice I have dealt with them. The first time I came away with a £150 phone for nothing because I genuinely couldn't afford it and was prepared to walk. They shafted me by sticking an extra on the contract I knew nothing about. The second time I said I wanted a bluetooth headset for free. This was when the headsets were still over £50. No headset, no deal. Got the headset. It wasn't until I got home and checked the paperwork I had signed, I discovered the b@st@rds had craftily shoved in a direct debit for insurance. That got cancelled immediately in writing to the insurance company. I've dealt with and taken relatives to O2, Carphone Warehouse, Vodafone and T-Mobile and never ever had a hard sell. Everything was explained up front - exact details of the contract, exact price and offered the insurance, which was turned down. Recently I asked to see some of the latest working phones in the Carphone Warehouse. Staff were great, no sales pressure and I walked away without any problem. The moral is, unless you can be Harry B@st@rd yourself and put pressure on the P4U staff, stay clear of them. One more point. Near the end of my contract, P4U phoned me and offered to upgrade me. I said I was going Blackberry and they promised I could do it and would get back in touch. Never heard from them again. |

Well phones 4 u keep ringing me up saying they want to buy out my contract. I have told them since xmas i dont want to be brought out but everyweek without fail i get a call offering to buy me out. Other week i decided to play along and to see what they would offer and when i said i wanted a nokia 95 they said that they couldnt offer me that phone as they was no offers on it at the moment unless i wanted to pay £45 a month . And then said it was a rubbish phone and they where always going wrong so i shouldnt want 1. So then they tried to offer me a T- Mobile sidekick phone. I said i would have to think about it. So looked in T- mobile next day and it was the crappest phone ever. It looked more like a tv than a phone and even the camera was only 1.5 mega pixel. So i didnt get why they where trying to rip me off with a rubbish phone.
So all in all i do wonder why they are so keen to buy me out as they come across as desperate but they have never bugged me before that. I guess peoeple get different experiances. |

Did they make it clear how they buy out your contract? All they do is send you a cheque for the remaining months and leave it up to you to pay off your contract. In reality, you are running with two contracts. And if you are not on the same network you have to get the pac code if you want to keep your number. If they offer a deal that sounds too good, try phoning your network and see if they will match it. |

Thanks for that info. I didnt think about how they would buy me out, i just assumed they would do it all that end and just cancel that contract and giving me a new contract. Well to be fair even tho they want me to say with them the offer they offered me sucked which makes no sense really.

Since i've dealt directly with T-Mobile I have NEVER had a single problem and when i've needed to call them for a tariff change or a query, I have never waited longer than 1-2 mins - that's god's honest. |

Never, ever phone to cancel the insurance with them. Always do it in writing. If you phone them they try to belittle you, infer that you are a mug for not taking out insurance. I'm not saying insurance is a bad idea, just wouldn't buy anything from them again.
Although I do get my kicks going in and winding them up from time-to-time. Pretending I want a £50 a month contract. See the salespersons face light up on that one! Oh dear, I seem to have forgotten any form of ID or debit card, I'll bring it in tomorrow!
