Nokia N95 8GB
Hi
I have searched but cant find an answer so apologies if this has been covered before. ![]() 3 sent me a phone which i had enquired about and i decided i wasnt wanting it so i cancelled the direct debit and told them i was sending the phone back.....i didnt but assured them i did, they believed me and cancelled the phone/contract, i did this because of all the pissing about keeping me on hold when i called, setting up 3 direct debits to my account etc etc!!! My question is can i unlock this phone to work on T-Mobile and will 3 know i am using the phone (as it has meant to have gone walkies in the post), not sure if they can pick up on the IMEI number if the phone is switched on. Thanks in advance for your help on this one.

Mobile networks are able to know the IMEI number of a phone when it connects to their network. This enables them to block stolen phones.
But normally you have to tell the network the IMEI number, they don't normally record it before shipping it out. If you have said you are returning it, and you don't surely they will charge you for it? |

Yeah its kinda like stealing......
....but on the other hand i have spent months trying to return it, so i see it as compensation for stress, phone bills etc and im sticking to that![]() As for charging me....i spoke to them and i wont be charged i have good telephone manner and great at arguing my point.....i was also advised that items have been posted and never received at their end....this is down to a dodgy PO box no which results in the post office just posting them back with no proof.......and 3 is cool with that!! ![]() also they kept calling me MR instead of MRS.....i mean my voice aint that low kinda husky i like to think!

Call it what you like but in my defence i never 'stole' the phone from a kid on the street, it was from a company that set up 3 direct debits to my account...the first of which i cancelled but didnt know about the other two so i had money taken from my account for a phone that wasnt even out of the box!!
So thief or not, dont care.....if they can do it so can i!! |

they will catch you and lock the phone. i had my phone nicked they where telling me when they send the phone out they take all the details of the phone so it can be blocked if nicked or if people don't pay for the service if the phone has not arrived it will be locked.

I clicked on this link thinking it would be something potentially interesting about the Nokia N95. Not about how someone has stolen one and then has the affrontery to ask if it will continue to work.

This is the reason why things are so expensive in the first place. Companies have to factor the losses made through stolen items onto people who are prepared to pay for their phones. This goes for everything you buy, internet or shops in town. If people stole less then the final price of items would be able to be lowered for the rest of us.
I'm quite amazed they didn't ask you for the tracking number from the post office of the item you 'sent back' so they could try to trace the missing item. |

Yup. Only the older model has the memory slot. The 8GB uses that space for the internal memory (so I'm led to believe)

Ok I just wondered cos i've got the original N95 and i've put an 8gb memory stick in it. So feature wise is there much difference? I know the 8gb version has a bigger screen and no lens cover on the camera but what else?

![]() The lack of memory card slot is something i'm not really sold on, yes it does have 8gb as standard, but I like the fact I can take my card out and pop it in a reader / other devices. HTH |

Not any of that appeals to me. I'd rather be able to swap memory cards then having to delete stuff when the space ran out and my N95 battery lasts about 4 days. I've had it 2 weeks and charged it 3 or 4 times. Also its fast and isnt slow at all so I dont see why it would need more ram lol
