Now that each week's songs are put up on iTunes, for the first time we can get a clue about various contestants' relative popularity (other than the least popular ones of course) by searching iTunes for "American Idol" and then ranking them by popularity...

Here's last week's chart with Jason in front, though I suspect that David A will be top this week... It's obviously not The Ultimate Oracle, as Alaina was most popular girl last week but was booted this week, but I think it's still interesting...

I can't access the US iTunes store in the UK - could someone who can please take a look and see what this week's chart looks like? Thanks!

Since last week's chart gave valuable popularity information about contestants that AI would not want you to know, action appears to have been taken.

A search for "American Idol Performance" brings up the performances (top 20 and top 24) but all the popularity ranks are now identical.

Unless there's something else I can do to bring out the stats, it looks like the information has been nobbled.
