Text Message errors

I am having a major problem sending text messages and am looking for a bit of help/advice.

I am on Pay Monthly with O2 and have a Nokia N95.

Everything on the phone works correctly and I haven't changed any settings on it at all.

I can receive all types of messages and can send all types of messages, except for sending text messages.

The messages sit in my outbox and the phone attempts to send it 3 or 4 times but then comes up with a message:

"General: Memory full. Close some applications and try again"

I have checked and I do not have any applications running and I also have 464MB left of the 982MB available on the phone.

It is drving me mad!!!!!

I had an N95 a few weeks ago which I was trying out as a replacement phone.

I could not send text messages at all.

I did not get this error message but it sounds like a similar issue to what I had.

I Rang O2 up and looked on the net and it appears that their is a problem with a batch of N95's on the O2 network.

It appears that even if you get replacement phone it will be the same.

I got around it by O2 tech support advising of updating to the latest Nokina firmware.

This would not let you change to version 2 of the Nokia firmware so I upgraded to the one which was a lower version which is the only choice you have due to the O2 limitations.

I basically then decided to get all of the O2 crap off the phone and flash it using a couple of bits of software that I got off the internet. This made it a basic Nokia phone which I could then update to the very latest firmware available which was 2.0 (something) and this appeared to solve the problem.

I could then send text messages.

Some tech support by O2 as they did not realise that the phone could not be updated to latest Nokia firmware.

If I hadn't done this procedure then I would still not be sending texts.

Hope this helps

@Sawyers, the memory message refers to the internal RAM of the phone not the flash storage or memory card. You either have too many programs running. Or you have run a program that hasn't released the memory it was using when you shut it down.

If its the second case then turn off the phone, take out the battery and wait a few minutes before re-assembling.

If this doesn't work then it is the firmware problem mentioned above.
