Am I the only one who isn't keen on Suzanne?

I do find it hard to remove any previous feelings you have about the celebs. While I would like to believe that we only judge them on their skating, celebrity lives do come into a bit. For example:

Gareth Gates: I voted for Will Young in pop idol.
Chris Fountain: I'm a bit too old to watch Hollyoaks.
Suzanne: fell for serial womaniser Darren Day.
Zaraah: needs work now Corrie's waved goodbye.

On the other hand:

Gareth Gates: Is from Bradford (land of my birth!)
Chris Fountain: Is also from Bradford! And skates with the lovely Frankie!
Suzanne: Escaped from Darren Day and is making a good life for her son.
Zaraah: liked her in Corrie, thinks she comes over well. (And skates with Fred...enough said!)

Not any time I've seen her.

I think it's interesting (and significant) that the complaints about her are so vague (the "something" that people can't put their finger on) and subjective.

And of course they're all ones (desperate, no personality, etc) that are far more often thrown at women than at men.
Quote:
“I read an interview with Zaraah where she said that she had bonded with all the other celebs and they all got on well but Suzanne was pretty distant.”

Sounds like Zaraah's being a bit bitchy then. If anything, that remark counts against her, rather than Suzanne.

Your point?

If you think someone else in DOI has been criticised more, in personal terms, who is it?

Chris.

He's big headed, he's cocky, he's arrogent, he's a show off, he's just a kid playing around. - Just a few remarks a lot of people have made several time. Are these not personal? Does anyone here know Chris wel enough to make these remarks? No

Suzanne has recieved unfair remarks from some people I'm not debating that ad she sure as hell doesn't deserve it. But Chris and his fans have had to deal with a lot more comments from day one.

I do know for a fact that Chris is arrogant and loves himself. This has come from people who have met him. however he is only just out of his teens, stars in a popular soap opera and has girls chucking themselves at him. He's little more than a kid and can sort of be forgiven for that.

Well other people on here have said the complete opposite. Its not a fact its the opinion of those people who have met him for all of two seconds. A lot of the lads my age act confident and proud, exactly like Chris and they don't have the same kind of achievements. I know you're not trying not knock him or anything but this comment irrated me a little, sorry.

OP - I'm sure you're not the only one who's not keen on Suzanne - I'm not keen on Chris, but don't feel the need to start a thread about it.

I agree with you there.

I hate the idea of anti threads. I don't dislike anyone who is left but the idea of posting bad things about other skaters is awful. Support your own skater and don't step on anyone else's.

Well said, Mr Fox... I only wish I could have the will power to just not reply!! Oh well, it only makes me more determined to get my favourite into the final....

I think they're all pretty nice to be honest

Suzanne is a good skater and wants to win, I feel she is getting harsher comments/marks for what she is doing than Claire last year. Claire got 6's for what Suzanne is doing although maybe that's because Suzanne skates more and the judges prefer the lifts, I dunno

Chris is fantastic as a skater but I can see why he doesn't get the 6's like Kyran last year, Kyran and Melanie had a chemistry that he and Frankie don't and it's clear to see. He skates, she skates but they rarely skate together.

Zaraah was fab to start with, has a fun bubbly personality, but understandably lost her confidence after getting high marks but being in the skate off the first time. She got her confidence back this week and deserved higher scores than she got.

Gareth is a lovely guy by the looks of things but is a poor Duncan. He doesn't have the skills or finesse Duncan had and didn't deserve such high marks after his fumbles with the hat. I like him though

Claire actually didn't get sixes which she (mostly?) got in the final. She equalled Kyran for weeks won if I recall but she did it with marks in the 24-27 range. Claire was smoother and better at the lifts . Suzanne has been choreographed to cram more in including more dancing but Claire did similar work which was laid out with longer moves and fewer of them. Its pretty close, Claire started at a higher level and now they are quite similar and getting similar marks. Claire was smoother but Suzanne makes ground back with her acting.

Agree about Gareth and Chris. Zaraah i don't think is that good - too hesitant and jerky and can't sustain any move. She's not as good as Lisa last year and still nothing like as good as Claire in week one.

The marking is decidedly odd compared to last year. Gareth, Zaraah and possibly Chris too are being overmarked in comparison to their better equivalents from last year and Suzanne seems to be being marked according to her own scale compared to last week.

Claire did deserve her sixes as she was very graceful but I do think a lot of her performances were lifts, Suzanne does more skating and the judges seem to dislike this. I'm not sure I understand why though as it is on ice and I thought they were supposed to show their skating talents off.

Kyran was head and shoulders above all of them, at times Claire showed a glimpse of his skill when she was on the ice, if she'd skated more instead of being lifted I'd have thought of her as better competition.

Suzanne doesn't seem to get consistent marks, last week she was fab, she's usually fab, but gets up and down marks, it's really odd this year.

I personally think the standard of skating was higher last year. I loved Claire's skating and felt she should have won over Kyran (I know I am in the minority Suzanne while I know is a good skater does come across an INCREDIBLY smug.

I have actually met Chris, and if he was as arrogant as you seem to think he is then i certainly would not be supporting him on these forums would i? He was just like any other 19 year old lad (his age when i met him) and the only people i have seen call him names like arrogant and cocky have come from people on these very forums who have not actually met him.

I haven't said anything nasty about Suzanne or called her any names. I find her irritating, cold and a bit smug. I'm not afraid to say so. I didn't start the thread to cause a barney, I just wanted to say my opinion like yourself and others

You didn't insult her, you just posted how she came across to you and asked how other people found her, I don't think there was anything nasty in your OP

It's still an anti thread in my opinion. You don't like Suzanne fair play but you did call her smug amongst other things. If people said those things about me I would be upset because I'd find it personal. This type of thread is always going to attract the people who dislike whomever the thread is about and some of them end up posting pretty awful things. I just think this type of thread is best avoided. Why not post something about Zaraah who you do like, rather then focus on Suzanne who you don't?

I'm sure Suzanne has got better things to do than read this thread And I'm sure she's been called worse things than smug.

This is a forum to discuss positives and negatives.

Then we'll agree to disagree.
I certainly wouldn't make a thread about how boring I find Zaraah as that is unfair to her fans. It's inviting criticism often of a personal nature.

Its not fair to label someone as arrogant on the say so of others. I've seen no evidence of arrogance on the show, only talent, nor have I any evidence that Suzanne is a cold fish.

She just comes across as hard working and professional to me - I find it odd that these qualities can be translated as desperate by some people.

to say that someone is dead been the eyes is disgraceful, she has a fabulous personality...
all the other celebs have said several times how much they like suzanne and how well they get on with her... watch the backstage video on the doi site and shes constantly joking around and laughin with the others...

Not keen on Suzanne.

Also when Jason made a comment to Zaraah (what a stupid way to spell such name) about her expression painted on her face , the same could be said about Suzanne's annoying smile firmly painted on her mouth!
