Suzanne is starting to get treated like Clare was last year. It's not fair on both women. They are both beautiful, excellent dancers and very good skaters. I enjoyed watching Clare and I adore watching Suzanne. It's like watching an old fashioned movie star very graceful and poised. The only way anyone can seem to put her down is to make personal comments about her in an attempt to discredit her.

I'm one of Chris' biggest fans as I'm sure you all know by now but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy Suzanne and Gareth. Its not us against them. They are all there for us to enjoy.

I never get the impression that Suzanne's smile is painted on- it comes across to me that it is because she is genuinely enjoying herself out on the ice.

I know exactly what you mean Mr Fox. Just posted on another thread that the personal insults seem to be getting worse over the past week or so. (not just directed at Suzanne- Chris and Gareth seem to be getting it as well, Zaraah seems to have escaped relatively unscathed- in terms of personal comments about her) Maybe it's because people are having trouble picking on Suzanne's skating ability- because she's actually one of the better one's left.

Don't get me wrong, I think she's good but she has no warmth and for that reason, I don't enjoy watching her. It was the same with Clare Buckfield last year

I didn't like Clare for the fact she took it far too seriously sometimes and I even recall her screwing her nose up at some of the marks (although I have never seen Suzanne do this)

I much prefer Zaraah. She came in a couple of weeks later and has been great. I think she seems a lot warmer than Suzanne. She has ambition without being smug and I think Suzanne is a bit smug And of course, there were the rumours that Zaraah and Suzanne didn't/haven't bond/bonded because Suzanne had a female rival when before, her biggest rival was Chris. Although that could all be hearsay (sorry )”

Yes, I totally agree with all you have said. I find her very fake and can't understand how people are taken in by her. Behind that smiling facade, there is a cold hard person.

How you can make such a damning statement is beyond me. Do you know her personally?

You don't know her personaly, I have seen her on other programmes (she was on that Sally Morgon thing a few weeks back) and she comes across to me like a lovely women who is confident and strong, maybe that's why some people don't like her, because she is too confident.

She isn't a cold hard person either, why is Suzanne getting all this stick? or need I ask

I find it hard to understand how anyone can make snap judgements of people they see on TV on a show such as this and then translate it into looking 'cold' or 'dead behind the eyes' or a 'cold and hard person'.

It's not like any of us know these people personally and unless we do, and they have treated us badly then it really is completely unfair to speak ill of someone in this way.

Whilst we do have freedom of speech in this country (more or less! ), it does behove us all to treat that freedom responsibly. I find all these cheap shots against the celebs (because that's what they are unless anyone can actually prove what they are saying and give a good reason for their statement - other than that they 'have the right to say what they want' - which I will come to in a bit) - rather more telling about those who make them than the celeb, to be honest.

It's a sad day when we feel the constant need to criticise someone's demeanour, personality, etc etc with no evidence of any of our words just 'because we can'. That doesn't make it right. It doesn't make us better people - actually, it makes us worse people than those whom we are decrying (for whatever reason - preconceptions, misconceptions, sheer pettiness ??? Who knows?).

Why on earth can't we just enjoy the show and stop taking pot shots at the celebs (whom we don't know personally, who have never done any harm to us personally and who are simply trying to learn a new skill, try their best and - yes, market their image a bit!)? The sheer volume of anti threads has been quite alarming. And for those who will say 'you don't have to read them', no I don't. Unfortunately, people are taking pot shots at the celebs even in the most innocuous of threads which actually didn't start out as an 'anti' one! So they're a little difficult to avoid!

For what it's worth, I think Suzanne seems lovely but more than that, I enjoy her skating. I loved Clare last year (she was my favourite although I did love Kyran too). I think Gareth is brilliant and always looks like he's having fun and Chris is amazing (although I would criticise the choreographers - T&D? Karen? Whoever takes care of that aspect - for allowing him to freeskate so often. This is supposed to be a skating show with couples! But that's not Chris's fault!). I like Zarah too - she's come a long way in a short time.

I take no notice of the VTs. They're deliberately skewed the way they are by ITV to encourage people to watch and vote. As is the 'injury' thing. The celebs have little or no say in how they come across in what is essentially a 1 minute film shot over 7 days! How that can be representative of someone or how standing waiting for your scores etc can be representative of someone or how someone can interpret from a smile that someone is 'false' , I have no idea.

But than, perhaps it's more to do with issues some posters have than with the celebs themselves?

I agree 100% with OP. Just cant warm to Suzanne, although would like to see her in the final.
Not really fussed this year who wins, wouldn't be bothered if I miss it!

Agree 100% Cally's Mum. Great post. Said all I wanted to say- but better!!
As I've said on another thread- this forum seems to have got very personal over the last week or two.

It's become more personal because it's gotten down to the end stages of the show. Both Chris and Suzanne are getting unncessary abuse about their personalities mainly because they are the favourites and their fans are trying to rival each other. Suzanne is called fake, desperate, needy and Chris is called smug, cocky and arrogant. The fact is most of the posters saying these things wont vote anyway. I bet less than half the posters in the forums will bother to vote.

I don't really care for Suzanne. I think she is the best skater in the competition (even better than Chris) but I would never vote for her cos I don't really care for her.

I wasn't over keen on her in "Popstars". I believe she only got in the band cos she was blonde, IMO. Then there were the whole "Darren Day" scenario and that "At Home With The Loverats" fly on the wall thing. When DOI started I thought I'd put my past opinions behind me and see what she was like on the show. The first clip I watched on the ITV DOI website was her boasting about all the free gifts she's received. That really annoyed me and didn't alter my past opinion on her.

In short I think she's a "wannabe". Not my type of girl I'm afraid and for that reason, even though I think she's the best skater, I would never vote for her.

Gareth to win - love him !!

If Suzanne gets tarred with that brush then Gareth definitely should as well.

Well who's fault was it. She was cheating on him when was with his previous girlfriend. What goes around comes around ! Just desserts I think they call that.

At least Gareth has some talent, and is nice with it !

Actually he cheated on her!

And she has talent as well, and she is just as nice.

She's known in our house as Miss Smug-Mcgee!

There is something about her that isn't really appealing - and she always seems desperate to be doing the most "dangerous lifts" and most spectacular moves first.

Okay, they are all competitive, but there is something unattractive about it in Suzanne.

The judges and Phil seem to love her though, and every week it seems that she's had yet another terrible injury, but she always manages to struggle on through the pain! She wasn't the only one with injury/illness last week, but they seemed to make the most fuss about Suzanne.

Actually I think Gareth looks rather stiff legged on the ice. . Whether you like her or not on a personal level, Suzanne deserves to be in the final two. Gareth may well be a lovely person, but is nowhere near the standard of either Chris or Suzanne.

Blame ITV for being OTT about her injury.

Is a compestion on who the best is, she wants to be the best, of course she is going t try and out do the otehrs (mainly Chris who is the fav) what would be the point in being there if she didn't want to win and be dareing? at least she is dareing and does some thing different each week.

There is nothing Smug-Mcgee about her, she is a nice women trying her best to win, like Chris pr Gareth, what is so wrong with that? Or is it because they are two very good looking guys so it's ok for them to want to try and be the best, but not for the women (mainly Suzanne)

I think it comes down to people having opinions on the celebs good or bad before the start of this competition. Even if Suzanne had not said a word she would have people who do not like her for whatever reason. The same applies to Chris as you well know because i've seen you saying unpleasant things about him before DOI started.

Not from me you havn't as I liked him when it first started, he was one of my favs, I don't dislike hm he just doesn't rock my boat as much as Suzanne and Matt.

As I said, the judges and Phil, and obviously the show producers seem to really favour her, and give her the big build up each week. Much like SCD and Kelly Brook - obviously a show favourite and treated like so.

I'm not the only one who thinks she's smug, but that is just my opinion. You may have a point about it not being seen as "okay" for a woman to be competitive (again SCD and Gaby), but I'd much rather Gareth or Chris won. Although, Chris is in danger of becoming a bit cocky!

It's funny because I think it's Chris their favour, they trat him like their fav as well, so it's not just Suzanne, of course if she hurts herself they will say about it, like Garteh having a headace or whatever it was.

Personal the best final we can hope for is a Chris vs Suzanne, Chris vs Gareth would be boring.

The thing is people are making personal comments about Suzanne and Chris. You called them both names in just your one post. This is based off a few minutes of VT that ITV manipulate to add dramatic tension to the show, and off the few minutes were the celebrities are put under immense pressure after their skate to make a comment when most of them are out of breath and just happy they got through it or annoyed because they messed up. It's wrong to make personality judgements off these few minutes and a lot of people are doing this. You don't like them that's fine go and post on your favourite skaters thread but I really don't see the need to be mean to the competition. They've only had lovely things to say about each other so perhaps everyone should just stop.
