I've just tried to retune the mother-in-laws box so she can get CITV channel 75 and it just keeps coming back with the screen telling me to retune my box , any ideas ?

Delete the existing CITV on channel 75, then rescan. I expect you'll find one (or more) stations in the 800s. Delete them as well, as that is where the box puts stations whose proper place is already occupied.

Trouble is these are sometimes from the transmitter you want, and the ones in the proper place may be from a distant transmitter. Best to delete all channels and do a manual tune, then you'll find the CITV re-tune message on channel 800.
