I have just placed an order this morning for Tiscali TV broadband and phone and just wondered if anyone out there who has the service could answer a few questions that I have.

1. What kind of on demand TV series (I'm not so bothered about the movies as I buy DVD's) can you get at the moment and how often do they change?
2
. What shows are on the channel C1?

3. I have a 42" inch plasma and I'm worried that on a big screen the picture quality is not going to be that great. How does it compare to Freeview or Sky. Tiscali assure me there is no difference.

4. I have ordered the + box. Is there any lag when you change channels?

I can tell you now that the picture quality isn't as good on larger screen plasma and LCD TV's as Sky or Virgin, and mainly because it comes via broadband. I had Tiscali TV on my 32" LCD and the picture quality was not as good as say Virgin Media which comes fibre optic cable and having compared the two Virgin is clearer than Tiscali TV.

C1 normally shows an awful lot of BBC programmes and US TV drama's and comedy, I know that they have stuff like ful series of Doctor Who, Family Guy and French and Saunders, stuff like that. That was the one big plus about Tiscali TV over say Virgin Media. The content on 4OD was also good, as was Screen Gems which showed old series like Different Strokes and I dream of Genie. It's such a shame as Tiscali COULD potentially be a fantastic service like it was under Homechoice, but at the moment Sky and Virgin are streets ahead of Tiscali at present.

For me at the moment Virgin is an no go as their is no Sky 1which I think is one of the best satellite channels and they charge £5 a month just to have the + box which i think is a bit steep.

And then there is Sky and as great as it is, no on demand which I think is fantastic and the main reason I am buying Tiscali TV.

There is a delay of 5 seconds when changing channels with the + box, don't know if this is the same as the standard box but I presume it would be, I guess it takes a few seconds for the request to recieve a different channel down the line to take effect.

A somewhat longer delay occurs when turning the box on, I've clocked upto 50 seconds although it's normally much less. I leave it on overnight but it goes to sleep if nothing is recording, presumably to save power.
