Vodafone 72 hours behind on remaining minutes

I'm new to Voda and am astonished that they can't supply up to date remaining minutes. They are 72 hours behind. It's not as if it's not technically possible because on PAYG (I was with Tesco) it updated after every call. Is this different on other networks?

Another whinge is that I had to threaten to cancel the contract unless they removed their roaming call block on new customers for the first 3 months. They don't tell you about that when you sign up.

They do it deliberately so that you can't budget so well.

72 hours would be annoying. I believe O2 is upto 24 hours behind, which can be annoying as well!

Has your phone got a call counter on it? It might be worth relying on that a little more.

yeah it's very annoying and I can see I'll go over my minutes towards the end of the month.
I reckon if PAYG networks can sort it out immediately, 24 hours isn't asking too much.

They're updated in real time on 3. Anyone on T-Mobile help?

Its immediate with Virgin, dial 789 it'll tell you how many mins and texts you have left in that month

It would seem that the older networks take longer, with the PAYT/PAYG etc systems you have an entirely different system monitoring your credit which is why the credit changes occur immediately.

Read it up on WIKIpedia tbh, HLR's PAMS etc

I believe that the Vodafone strategy is to provide this information as late as possible so that there is more chance of you using more than your bundled calls, text and data.

My January usage is listed in my February bill which arrives in March.
