Im now sorted on VoIP thanks to the threads on here, but a quick question for those in the know, or who may of tried the suggested setup.

My brother is on three mobile broadband, and is wondering if VoIP would work over it? the laptop sits on his kitchen table, and the modem is always left on so thats not an issue. He gets speeds of around a meg and a half, any ideas if thats gonna be any use?
cheers

I've tried VOIP using my 3 mobile broadband with both Skype and sipgate and my results are not very good. I can hear the recipient's voice quite clearly but the recipients have trouble hearing me clearly and indicate that my voice is quiet, breaks up, and has an echo. I've also tried it to dial my own landline answerphone to hear it for myself and can confirm that the speed I'm getting (typically around 500 Mbps downlaod and arounf 50 Mbps upload is inadequate. I've used it in 2 locations both of which show that I'm in a HSDPA receiving area with all 5 bars showing on the signal meter but this obviously not adequate for VOIP. If anybody has any ideas for improving this I'd welcome a response with positive suggestions.

Overall. I'm resonably happy with the service for surfing and emails but hope that the signal eventually improves so that I can use VOIP in the locations where I do not have access to nornal landline broadband.
