failed recordings if i leave it tuned to channel 5

I like to leave my box tuned to channel 5 most of the time.

However I have noticed that it seems to ignore any scheduled recordings on other channels that I have set via series link. It is ok if I leave it tuned to BBC1.

Known bug ?

Are are your channels being received from the same transmitter? If they are coming from different transmitters then that would explain the behaviour you are seeing.

That's a bit of a failing then. I only use my Hummy as a backup for my Sky+ so the situation doesn't arise but I'd have hoped that the Hummy just displays a prompt like the Sky+ does and if the user doesn't respond the recording takes priority.

Edit:Mind you if it does display a prompt I hope it's a better one than Sky+ gives. The Sky+ prompt is so confusing that I find it best to just switch the box to standby rather than trying to make a choice

I think you misunderstand the problem. The issue is (likely) that the OP is receiving channels from two transmitters (i.e. different frequencies from different transmitters) and hence this can cause problems like this (as the data received from the 'foreign' CH5 transmitter is of no use to the channels from the native/home transmitter).

You are likely thinking of the case whereby a tuner is required for recording elsewhere (different MUX) and hence is not available for normal viewing (in Sky's case it sounds like it prompts for action, on the Humax it switches to recording and your screen goes blank).

If the OP let's us know their postcode we can find out which transmitter, and hence which frequencies their channels should be coming from.

What are you talking about? With Sky there surely is only one transmitter. I did mean transmitter not channel.

I do seem to have two transmitters -

MUX1 (bbc1) - ch 25 - Crystal Palace
MUX2 (itv1) - ch 22 - Crystal Palace
MUXA (channel5 ) - ch 48 - Heathfield
MUXB (bbc4) - ch 47 - Heathfield
MUXC (sky news) - ch 54 - Heathfield
MUXD (virgin1) - ch 51 - Heathfield

I'll be testing later to see if acurate recordings work on another heathfield mux (i.e. BBC 4) whilst I'm tuned to Channel 5 and see if BBC1 ones fail.

thanks,
Em Kay

You really should sort that out or you will have endless problems. See this FAQ Hummy.org.uk Manual tuning FAQ

Actually there are several but I agree that each channel only comes from one source.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood but there's no reason to be so shirty about it.
