I'm still waiting for replies from ex colleagues in the beeb, but the late starting under AR might be down to versions of Service Information (SI) streams at the regional transmitters. Might!
I don't think the fact that some get the start and others, like me, don't is not Humax software.

Do those that get the "opening titles" get those from the start?
If there is action before the titles roll do you get all that?

Other reported problems might be down to jumping several versions of software?
I've had no problem with mine other than late starting recordings, which i'm trying to get to the bottom of. But my Humax has updated in sequence.

Not the situation I was describing. I meant reformat the hard disk *after* 21 has been installed and *then* had disk corruption.

On BBC 1, BBC 2, BBC 3 and C4 about 98% of the time starts to record at the begining of the trail before the programme starts. So yes I get the action before the titles.
Still waiting for ITV to get it sorted and C5 to wake up to the future of TV broadcasting.

mmm! I'm on Sutton Coldfield and never get the ad before BBC programmes. Your BBC1 regional News is South East, then?

And itv have admitted both in an email to me and to someone else that they haven't implemented AR yet.

Don't know who at ITV thinks they are not supporting AR...because I have numerous examples of early/late starts.

I got an email from the Duty Office:

"We have recently started using ‘real time triggering’ on ITV2 and ITV3. However, testing of the system is on-going and it is likely to be some months before we are able to offer the service on ITV1."

I am new to this thread, but have been getting tons of lockups since .21. Nothing to do with channel 4 (had one on BBC 4 last night, when I had the temerity to pause the prog). I've also had a bunch of recordings which seem to be OK, but where the screen goes black halfway through playback with the helpful (but erroneous) message that the channel is scrambled or unavailable. No unusual settings (esp. not now that I have tried factory reset in an unsuccessful attempt to fix the problem). Perhaps it isn't the update (done OTA, as I don't have a null modem cable, having never needed one), but post hoc ergo propter hoc...

All my ITV1 recordings have been excellent tonight.
Set to record were Youve been framed,Harry Hill,Ant & Dec.
All consecutive recordings and every one started to record during the adverts before start and finished during adverts at the end(except Ant & Dec which fininshed during end credits).
I hope ITV keeps this up.

Sounds like they've finally worked it out (or more likely asked the beeb)!

I got a reply from channel 4, who i asked for information on how they successfully managed AR. Unfortunately they couldn't be bothered to pass it on to the engineering types!

Ah, right, sorry. Might be a while before we can be 100% sure of that as .21 hasn't really been out long enough for there to be lots of people who have done a reformat. But I guess people will be coming along who've got machines from new with .21 and increasing numbers of those like me who've had to reformat while using .21 and are waiting for the second lightening strike!

But there do seem to be increasing numbers of people with disk corruption issues, which is worrying.

I think we can say that the new firmware has led to an increasing number of people discovering they have a corrupt disk. The weight of evidence so far seems to point to this corruption being pre-existing. Since I first asked some time ago about anyone having disk corruption *after* reformatting with 21 installed there have been no reports I have seen of this happening.

On what grounds... all you can say is that there is an increasing number of reports resulting from the increasing number of users with ownership over an increasing period of time.

Blame the firmware ....

It hasn't been for me, I've had no problems with it whatsoever.
