2008 Panasonic LCDs

I am due to get a replacment for my Panasonic 32LXD700 due to backlight problems and have been offered an 'upgrade' to a 2008 model if I like.

I am not sure whether the new models are any better than the one I have so would really, really appreciate some advice as to what I should do please?

Apart from the 'yellowing' on the backlight the TV has stunning picture quality and I would think the new models would be the same if not better?

Help please?!!!!

however the price differece would be ????

if yours is the same as the model on the list with 3 hdmi inputs then I would stick with what you got

The 2008 range does not hav an equivelent model to the 700. This is because panasonic felt that the premium model should be 1080 but was cost prohibitave with all the extra feature that the 700 had over the 70 last year. Therefore the do not have a 32lxd800 due out. If you bought the set for the sound quality/connections you might be best off asking for a 700 back again.

Thanks both!

So if you had the LXD700 would you go for this again rather than a newer model?

I have had a look and it seems that the LXD800 will be available in June which isn't really far away but not sure whether it would be worth the wait?

They do have a 32LXD800 which is due out June/July.

I am not sure whether it is worth waiting for or would I be best to just go for another 32LXD700.

I have been told that full HD can make lower bitrate SD channels look worse?

Sadly not true. No 32lxd800. have spoke to both the rep and also have the launch schedule infront of me. The only 800 in lcd is the 37lzd800 full 1080p .

Many thanks for clearing that up for me.

Do you know what the 2008 equivalent of the 32LXD700 will be then, if indeed there is one?

I would quite fancy a 37" but the 2007 model is too wide and not sure whether the 37LZD800 will be any narrower?

Do you think it would be best if I just went for another 32LXD700 since I know it is a brilliant TV?

The 32lzd80 or 85 are 1080p sets but do you need 1080P on a 32"? If not, the better sound on the lxd700 might be more useful.
If you are luck you will start seeing the lzd's this month or early next month and be able to compare them with the lxd700.

I though the lxD85 is HD ready?

Unfortunately I won't be able to see the new models as I live in the far North of Scotland and the Panasonic dealer only takes in TVs to order.

Might be best if I stick with the 32LXD700 for now. It is a brilliant TV.
