Bought a new phone in December and on my receipt it said that I was on their PAYG 15p/min anytime to any network or landline tariff.
I should add I'm an infrequent user, but each time I used the phone for the briefest call I found that I was being charged 30p. Without a minute minder on my Nokia phone I eventually was told that if I overstepped the minute by so much as a second I was charged for the next whole minute!
I did a test call today to my partner sitting in the other room and timed the call using an accurated digital timer but although I thought that I'd ended the call at about, say, 58 or 59 seconds, in fact the disconnection was not instant and I'd been charged for a call lasting 1min 1sec and yes it cost 30p. I was told I'd be better off speaking well into that second minute to get my money's worth.
I phoned customer services in (where else, but India) and was told how the billing system worked but they said that they would give me a £1 credit as a goodwill gesture.
