Can I buy an Iphone
I'm coming to the UK (London) in a couple of weeks and I want to buy an Iphone. Can I just go into the Apple store buy an Iphone but not connect it? I will be taking it back to Italy and gaol breaking it. Are there any cons in doing this? Will I be listed with a bad debt company because i wont connect it to T-mobile? or is as simple as going to the shop buying it (cash) and going back home to unlock? cheers

Yep, just go to the Apple store and buy it as you would a regular iPod.
You connect it using iTunes when you get home though obviously you just unlock it instead |

The iPhone is locked to O2 when bought from the UK.

your warranty will be voided because of the jaibreaking and unlocking.
Just restore it before returning it if you have any problems

I heard a rumble that if you buy one in France it's unlocked - and a damn sight cheaper.
It'd be worth a day out if you get your smokes and your drinks at same time! |

The unlocked iPhones in France cost a fortune and only have the French language installed.
