La Tasca - has anyone been?
Was looking at the menu online today. I have always wanted to go but never got round to it. Some yummy-sounding dishes, and good deals on tapas. However, I checked out some online reviews, and a few people said the portions are too small, and everything is padded out with onions and potatoes.
Have you eaten at La Tasca? How was it for you? |

It's ok, in that it's a chain and does reasonable food. If you want proper Tapas don't go to La Tasca and if you've ever eaten proper Tapas you may be disappointed.

They try hard, but it is a chain restaurant. The one I went to didn't even have black pepper and the food wasn't marvellous. My recommendation is to go to a Spanish restaurant run by Spanish people!

This is the only tapas place I've been to and I like it. I will get round to trying others soon but La Tasca is right on my doorstep....
They've also just started a £10 menu from Sunday/Thurs which is pretty good also. |

Try Cafe Espana in Old Compton Street Soho, London for authentic Spanish food

I've been. Not really impressed, especially the Tortilla. Bland and the meatballs weren't much cop either.
That said, i'm not keen on any chain restaurants, i'd rather eat authentic. |

I like the food there but won't go there again as theres a limited choices for me becuase I can't have dairy products so it was hard for me and I didn't wanna the same food again and again. It can get boring. I won't say La Tasca is best.

Never heard of it before today - strangely, I was in Windsor this morning shopping and there is one there - noticed it while we were mooching around.
Coincidence

Many years ago, before La Tasca was a chain, it was good. These days, the majority of the food is made in a warehouse, then warmed up in the kitchens. Expensive microwave ready meal in my opinion.

La Tasca is nasty. Try El Pirata on Down street, Mayfair. Run by Spanish and is lush.

Hmmm...I haven't read enough good things about the food in La Tasca so I think I will be giving it a miss!

I liked it, but wasn't blown away. The food was okay (garlic mushrooms were divine) but some of the seafood was a bit chewy.
However they do tapas for a tenner and you can have as much as you like of anything, so it is very good value. |

i take back what i said before i ate there last night at the southend branch and ordered the monkfish, granted it was only £4 for the tapas and it was quite possibly the worst cooked piece of fish id ever eaten, like eating a wet sock....meatballs were top notch though!

I love it. Its one of my favourite chains. You do need about 3 or 4 dishes each though. So get about 6 dishes for a couple, then share them, in the proper TAPAs styley.

Got to admit, although it's a chain, I like La Tasca in Newcastle. Have also tried El Torero in the town and to be honest I prefered La Tasca's food.
Can end up quite pricey though cos you end up ordering loads of dishes lol. Also can't understand how when you order paella there's a wait of 30-40 minutes for it to cook, when you can order a starter size portion and get it much more quickly |

I eat lunch in La tasca in Victoria at least twice a week. They do a great set meal for two and the wine is ok.
I've also been to the one in Bournemouth recently and the food was attrocious in comparison. |

Rubbish
I went to la Tasca in Bournemouth and the food was rubbish! Over priced, very average food. I have had better nosh from my freezer. I had chorizo paella, chicken croquettes, and my friend had prawns, and something else which I can't remember.
I won't be going to any la Tasca ever again! |
