Ive never head of them either? Why is it so shocking? If she has said she's never heard of Elvis or The Beatles would be different

What are you talking about 'Too Young'?

I'm too young to have been around when the Doors, The Kinks, or T Rex were at their heights,.....I still know about them though.

Most music acts around today, even the most talented pop acts, do usually tend to know a fair bit about music history from the sixties onwards.

Being too young isn't a valid excuse. She's 21 isn't she? Many 21 year olds are exploring music from before their time and they aren't even famous for doing music.

For a female singer it's pretty embarrassing to not have heard of Liz Fraser.

I think that's practically impossible, especially if you're in the music business.

It's not suprising as yeah, Cocteau Twins aren't as well known as Elvis or The Beatles, but they're still a pretty important band that anyone who's anyone in the music business should have at least heard of.

Idiot.

Why does the media have to push these celebrity offspring brats onto us who have lots to say but know nothing? We don't ask for them.

To be fair though, The Kinks, Doors & T Rex are more famous and influential. Fab though Liz Fraser is, they werent really a "chart" band and may not have been the style she was ever into. You cant know EVERY good singer that has ever been around.

Her age can't be used an excuse anyway, because she knows who 'The Soul Brothers' are doesn't she?

Perhaps he just doesn't like the Beach Boys.

I think that if you're a female singer of any merit you're going to have heard of Liz Fraser and be aware of the 'Cocteau Twins' through her.

Cocteau twins were a minor band whose biggest hit reached 29 in the charts
Why should she have heard of them?. Hardly a crime anyway.

I've heard she's never heard of Bill Haley or Eddie Cochran. Seriously, I think she should be tried for treason. Nonsense thread of the day, anybody?

I don't see why that should be true. Liz Frasier may have been a great singer but the Cocteaus didn't have a particularly high profile when they were around let alone this long after they split.

BTW, am I the only one who this thread is making feeli incredibly old

Obviously not, but one finds it difficult to see how he could have reached that conclusion without listening to Pet Sounds. It's widely regarded as the one of the greatest albums ever made.

I've heard 2 or 3 of the songs off it and don't like them so have never listened to the album. Just because something is regarded as a great album doesn't mean people should like it.

I never said people should like it, but given how highly it's regarded anyone with a serious interest in music should at least give it a go IMO
