Which is best? There's only one way to find out....fiiiiiiiiiiight!!

I am adamant Heinz salad cream tasted better from a glass bottle and I could even taste the difference in a blind test.

The jury is still out on Marmite...but it's deffo runnier to make it though the sloopy thing.

Which do you prefer....are you a squeezer? Do any other food packages ruin food? Do crisps taste better in foil packs or is that marketing twaddle?

I always buy the glass bottles of ketchup and the like. I've tried the plastic bottles and they don't seem to taste the same - but that's probably more psychological than logical.

At least the glass bottles are recyclable - the plastic ones go to landfill in my area.

Seems there's some unhappy squeezy Marmite fans here:

Glass bottles of ketchup and salad cream definitely taste better than squeeze ones, my OH doesn't believe me and says they both taste the same but I can taste the difference.

Glass is recyclable. Most plastic isn't.
End of.

I agree. Until last Autumn only glass bottles could be recycled in our area, so I would always buy items in glass bottles/jars etc, rather than plastic, even if it cost a little more. Now we can recycle both glass and plastic bottles, I still tend to buy glass as glass can be recycled indefinately, in a way plastic bottles can't. Taste is irrelevant as it's the same stuff inside, regardless of the container being glass or plastic.

And another thing...I'm sure glass stays colder than plastic...and I like my salad cream very cold.

Marmite: Glass, the plastic ones are too expensive and there's always the last little bit you can't get out, and have to open it up and get the last bit out with a knife anyway. They are handy when traveling though.

Heinz Ketchup: Plastic, but the original 'right way up' ones. Not the new top down ones. Dunno why but it just somehow tastes better from those squeezy bottles.
