My 3480 won't play minidiscs, argh!!

So we bought a minidvd camcorder a while back, after getting bored of having to transfer recordings of the kids. The discs played fine in our old dvd player.

We decided to buy a dvd recorder assuming it would play anything. The minidiscs won't play in it!!!!!!!

Any ideas or help for me?!

What does it do? Does it say no disc or some other error?

What version of software is the recorder on?

I'm not sure what version, the manual just says DVDR3480, and its a Philips.

When we put the disc in, it just says the word 'load' on the front of the machine, and the disc 'spinning' icon shows on the tv screen. Thats all, it does nothing else lol, i kept waiting for it to come up with 'no disc' but it didn't.

Thanks!!

All I can suggest it that you make sure it has the latest software loaded. Is the machine a recent purchase from new?

The following link ...

... provides details of how to check and upgrade if required.

Hope that helps,

Firstly, what type of 8cm DVD is it? If it wasn't a +RW, then it may need finalising in the camera. Presumably it isn't a DVD-RAM disc?

The 3480 has a recess in the tray for 8cm DVD discs so should be aligning and spinning it properly. Other than the above reasons, I can't imagine why it won't play.
