going to buy a SONY KDL-40v3000, next week but I am slightly concerend about the DEAD PIXEL scenario, I am intending to buy it from SOUND & VISION ( http://www.soundandvisiononline.com/...oduct_id=14028) ....... which are are as far as i am aware, a trusted online dealer, there policy for dead is that its not considered a fault but a manufacturing tolerance, but refer you to the manufacturer. Where they may be able to help you out.
Whats the latest situation regarding dead pixels, have the odds on having this problem been reduced by more modern technology etc etc. Id hate to fork out the money and find i have a coupke of dead pixels, that i cannot do anything about

its a hell of a worry.
i bought a Sharp Aquos from Argos it had 4 dead pixels right in the centre of the screen
at 1st they said 'ooh sorry nothing we can do' then i remeber the money back promise i belive its 14 days if youre not happy.i know Comet do the same thing also.
maybe thats the answer for you it may mean paying a little bit more but if everything is okay great if it isnt you have a fallback to either get a new one or full refund.

None on my new 46inch full HD thank God.

I don't intend to look for them either, one on my PC 17in out the box but it's in the corner, never bothered me.

If you get them in the centre the 12month guarantee should suffice.

As a Sony main dealer we happily replace the LCD screen in any sets the customer complains about, as far as I'm concerned it's a premium product, at a premium price, and shouldn't have ANY duff pixels.

All faulty Sony LCD panel's have to be returned to Barcelona to be examined and authorised, so far they have never rejected any of my claims for dead pixels.

It's really nothing to be very concerned about, the incidence of dead pixels (at least on Sony's) is incredibly low.

Many manufacturers though don't allow dealers to do the service (Sharp is one), so it's up to their appointed service agents to authorise or not.

If you order on-line you can reject it under the 7 day rule without giving a reason. And they are obliged to pick it up once you make that decision.
