The other day my phone said it was receiving no network occasionally it would go up half a bar and say emergency calls only, i went to the 02 shop as soon as i walked in the shop i got a full bar of signal as soon as i walked out got no signal again!! Walked round to the other 02 shop and it did exactly the same! Tried my sim card in another phone and it works fine, its a Sony Ericsson k800i, anyone else had the same problem or kno what could be wrong?

Remember, there is likely to be a signal booster in the shops.

Spot on, most of those phone shops have a "picocell" in them, basically a tiny mobile phone cell site. This gives a good reception in the shop so they can demonstrate phones etc. I'd say your phone has a buggered aeriel/internal workings and so can receive a good signal when right on top of a transmitter but not otherwise.

Which area of the country are you in?

I think O2 are experiencing major problems in Surrey at the moment with signal outages.

Call CS and they should be able to a) tell you about the problem and the time of fix or b) alert there network team to the signal issues you are having.

I had a weird problem with my K800i on T-Mobile last week. Although the phone was receiving a strong signal (the signal bar was full), my phone said "no network access" where it would normall say "t-mobile". This was in Kingston and Surbiton. As soon as I got to Clapham Junction, it was fine
