Now here's an interesting point - if the Humax late starts are down to it checking the event information table every 30 seconds - we should all have a different start point.

Quite a coincidence if the machines are supposed to be sampling for a start signal every 30 seconds, hmmmm.
I don't know that this is the case, but it's certainly a possibility. |

You're assuming that the checking starts at a random time, but perhaps the machine checks on, say, the minute and half minute, and as the hummy gets its time from the broadcast signal they will all be in sync.
I don't know that this is the case, but it's certainly a possibility. If the Hummy IS checking every 30 seconds for a START signal, how could my recording (post #4) start 45 seconds after the opening scene which, on the second Corro, is about 5 seconds after the start of the theme tune. This adds up to a 50 second delay from the beginning of the program to the start of recording. I have seen a delay of as much as 1 minute 20 seconds on a program some while back. |

You're right, I was assuming that, but if what you suggest is correct wouldn't all recordings start on the minute or half minute (or some related constant) after a START signal had been sent by the broadcaster?

My theory would explain why two different machines started recording at the same point. |
