Repaired Humax PVR9200T lasted less than a day!

Okay, I'm now rather less than impressed.

Our Humax broke down - looked like a fault with one tuner. It was booked in for repair and, after a comedy of errors, we ended up with an extremely noisy and dusty exchange unit in spite of asking for a repair. The replacement crashed 3 times in two days locking up solid.

On contacting Humax, our original repaired box was sent back to us and swapped with the exchange unit today.

As I was recording Demolition Man tonight, I pressed instant record on another MUX just to test whether everything was okay and it all went horribly wrong in an identical manner to the fault it was sent away for. The screen went black. There was a warning saying no signal and going into 'menu' showed 'installation' greyed out. It then lost everything apart from the channels on the MUX that was recording.

What a load of hassle. You'd think they would test it before sending it out! I guess I'll be phoning them up again tomorrow on their expensive 0870 number

Anyone else had similar experiences with similar faults or issues with the repairs process? I've now had three 9200T's, and one repaired in 15 months. This is silly.

Take it back to the shop where you bought it from & get it exchanged for a brand new unit.

Comet did it for me, they told me to grab another from the shelf, so that's what i did.

Good Luck

How old was yours when you exchanged it? I've already done that once - after 2 weeks of ownership. I'm not sure that 15 months on, they'll do an exchange and, even if they do, I'd probably end up with a noisy one.

Spoke to Humax today who were very apologetic and are arranging a priority pickup. They suspect that there has been a serious error at the repairs dept and that my box hasn't actually been repaired. Considering the RF passthrough still isn't working, I think that's highly likely.

Mine was about 18 months old, i got a new box, a new 2 year guarantee and also about £35 back as it had come down in price.

You might well find either of these two alternatives less expensive, depending on your phone tarriff:

Thanks for the phone numbers etc. Interesting with Comet doing an exchange on an 18 month old box. Mine was from Currys so maybe worth a go if the repair doesn't work out.

DHL collected it this afternoon and it's off to Teleplan in Havant apparently. Humax said they'd try to get it sorted by Friday and were extremely apologetic for the cock-up.

Well, it's back a day earlier than expected. The antenna passthrough works again which is a sign that they've done something to it this time. I haven't had time to test the recording. Fingers crossed

I suspect they have swapped out the mainboard as they did with mine.... doesn't require more than a few minutes to swap them over. The other board can then be repaired at leisure. I know mine was swapped as i was a version 1.0 board and came back with a 1.1 board.
