Toshiba HD EP30 - £49.99 at Play with 2 discs
I couldnt resist - still says £79.99 but when you add it to cart its £49.99 and confirmation order comes through as that too. So the player is costing peanuts when you take into account the two free discs and hdmi cable. I need an upscaler and havent got an hdmi lead for my Panny plasma so its a no brainer for me.
Also if you search Play.com under "new this week" it comes out as £49.99. Hurry as i cant imagine it'll drop more than this before they sell out for good... What a bargain!!! Edit - 9.50am Now officially at £49.99 on all links on Play plus EP35 now £119.99!!! Deal of the year so far i'd say... |

That is an excellent price!!
I'mvery tempted but already have an upscaling DVD player and a PS3 for Blu-ray so am having difficulty justifying the space that another box would occupy.......

Yep Bourne and 300 - i will sell 300 so making it even cheaper. Even at £80 you got a bargain assuming you're happy with the player...
Any ideas on cheap hd discs, ordered first blood and king kong for £7.50 each from dvd.co.uk, but searching for some other deals too... |

Just need Amazon UK to price match (as they have done when PLAY drop their prices) and then claim back the difference against the £149 for the EP35 I paid a couple of weeks ago
![]() Movietyme have a lot of discs under £8 (inc P&p), US dealer but no customs worries

I am more than happy with the player, just a shame that i didnt wait a couple more weeks to save an extra £30. For some more up to date titles try the following, i ordered disturbia and shooter for £15 delivered ![]() First time in using them so will wait for my order before placing another with them but i haven't heard anything bad about them. http://www.dvdcrave.com/products/hd_..._available.jsp |

Cool - thanks for the link.
reckon in the next few months there will be some proper deals on the discs - similar to usa and aussie deals. The release schedule goes up until May so plenty of time to grab em... I see you have a humax 9200. Thinking of getting the tb, can you rec it? |

Because there are 800 discs available in better than dvd quality (especially some 60s and 70s classics, which will soon be very cheap. They are already plenty for £8 Because it comes with £20 worth of discs Because it has an hdmi cable Because its a normal dvd upscaler (and better than an equivilent priced one as it uses a chip that would be comensurate with its original £250 price point. If thats not for you then fine but as i explained in the original email, for people like me with no dvd upscaler or hdmi cable its a no brainer... |

Have ordered it from Amazon as it's dropped to £49.99 now! Very much worth it for its upscaling abilities alone.

The only downside for me is the remote control, it has a flap at the bottom which hides some useful buttons, and it can easily be broken ![]() There is a humax section in the pvr section here for more info http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/f...play.php?f=119 |

Of course if you want HD then you may rather get the new freesat service, along with the freesat Humax HD PVR. Or just get Sky HD of course! |

Yeah the benefit of a HDMI link (scaling or not) can be totally negated by owning a decent HD display to begin with
![]() As for an integrated HD DTT tuner then given we still don't know what shape the DTT HD spec will take or if it will really come to fruition before you decide to replace the TV it's rather a waste of money since the TV's with this type of tuner (meant for other EU markets) would be sitting doing nothing for at best 2 years maybe even longer. The external STB is really the best choice and as eddiewood says Freesat or SKYHD is the best way to go for HD right now or within a couple of months. |
