Can anyone give me some names of songs which are good for a beginner. I'm just starting out and i know the basics but would like some easy songs to try. Thanks!

This book is great! Almost every song is so easy.

Or any Green Day song.

Are you having lessons or teaching yourself?

I learnt to play, during college, using Weezer songs.

'Buddy Holly' or 'No One Else are good ones to start with.

I was about to say "Come as you are" by Nirvana too - it is probably one of the easiest songs ever.
Thinking back, one of the first songs I learnt on guitar was "day tripper" by the beatles - it's a nice easy one to start out with - familiar to the ear, so when you get it right, you feel a sense of achievement!

"Sunshine of your love" by Cream is very easy as well but probably one of the most well known riffs.

Why not try "smoke on the water" by deep purple - that's another one you can pick up in less than 5 minutes?

Tabcrawler is pretty good for easy tabs.

Nirvana-Heart Shaped Box....even I can play it, and I am not a guitar player.

Wooden Heart by Elvis and Bad Moon rising by CCR are relatively easy to play.

Yeah, was going to reccomend Oasis, when I was learning (which I now will have to find time to re-do as it's been so many years since I picked up a guitar!) I found most of their songs were very easy to play.

The Troggs - Wild Thing is also very easy to play.

Also, pretty much every Levellers song.

If you listen to the "pop" songs in the charts, most of them are based around the same three chords too.

Good luck.

My daugher is just learning to play and her teacher has started her off with REM "Everybody Hurts" and Green Day's "When September Ends". She has found them to be quite easy. Also anything by James Blunt doesn't seem too difficult.

Blowing in the wind - Bob Dylan?

nice chord changes and the chance to play a decent bass-line as well as melody and rhythm.
